Western anti China propaganda is so strong and one has to come to China and see things with their own eyes to realize being tricked for so long, Many foreigners are literally in shock when they first visited China finding that everything in China is exactly the opposite from what they learned about China in the west.

That' s totally a different issue, people go for economic reasons, when China was very poor, people liked to go to the west for a better life like what happens around the world, that's understandable, now less and less people do so and most student come back to China after studying overseas due to the same economic reasons.
The western lies mainyly focues on political issues and ideologies cause even they can not deny China's economic development.
You are rich(for now) won't stop you being a big liar, lying and better standard of living has no connections, some people do get rich through lying.

If you want real Muslim freedom and in general religious freedom, then you should see South Korea and Japan. Where Muslims don't need licenses just to buy cooking knives and Muslim Children are free to attend Quran classes to read and learn their own Holy book!

Chinese government authorities have banned Muslim children from attending religious events during winter break, in a county in western Chinathat is mostly populated by Muslims.
The notification for the ban has been posted online by the education bureau, as authorities step up their suppression of religious freedoms.
School students in Linxia county in Gansu province, home to many members of the Muslim Hui ethnic minority, are prohibited from entering religious buildings over their break, a district education bureau said, according to the notification.
Students must also not read scriptures in classes or in religious buildings, the bureau said, adding that all students and teachers should heed the notice and work to strengthen political ideology and propaganda. China is an atheist, communist state.
Reuters was unable to independently verify the authenticity of the notice.
The Linxia education bureau has declined to comment on the document's validity.
Xi Wuyi, a Marxist scholar at the state-backed Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and an outspoken critic of rising Islamic influence in China, shared the picture and welcomed the apparent move by the authorities.
With the notice, the county was taking concrete action to keep religion and education separate, and sticking strictly to education law, she said on the Weibo social media platform.
New regulations on religious affairs released in October last year, and due to take effect in February, aim to increase oversight of religious education and limit religious activities.
Last summer, a Sunday School ban was introduced in the southeastern city of Wenzhou, sometimes known as "China's Jerusalem" due to its large Christian population, but Christian parents found ways to teach their children about their religion, regardless.
Chinese law formally grants religious freedom for all, but regulations on education and protection of minors also say religion cannot be used to hinder state education, or children taught to believe in a religion, rather than communism.
Authorities in troubled parts of China, such as the far western region of Xinjiang, home to the Turkic-speaking Uighur Muslim minority, ban children from attending religious events.
But religious communities elsewhere rarely face blanket restrictions.
Fear of Muslim influence has grown in China in recent years, sparked in part by violence in Xinjiang.
The Chinese-speaking Hui, who are culturally more similar to the Han Chinese majority than to Uighurs, have also come under scrutiny from some intellectuals, who fear creeping Islamic influence on society.

It's not news, so one month is not old at all, a country's policy won't change in a month. I provided many other foreign travellers vlog in Chinese Muslim regions, didn't you see them?
How many Muslims do they have? They are known single nation states. China has at least 20 million indeginous Muslims living in China for hundreds of years without major conflicts (crusades or such), so your comparison with Japan and Korea is very laughable.

Two different issues. The west is still richer and more open to outsider, while East Asia (even very rich like Japan, Taiwan ... ) are almost closed to outsiders, let alone less prosperous like China.
China has its problems, but the government accepts that there are problems and bravely tackle them, unlike most western style democracies who are burying their heads in sand. Just look at China reforest program, family planning program etc. They did it for many years and accepted the bad mouthing by Western propaganda, knowing that these programs will benefit China in long run.
In the past, Soviet propaganda worked also very well to paint a red picture, and a lot of people belied it, including so many Indian, who wanted to move and live there. But all see what happened to the Soviet Union. They lied too much to themselves to the extent that they could not reform to avoid the coming collapse.
I see the same fate awaiting some countries in the West. They lying too much about others and they lying about themselves.
