Amazing picture of PAF F-7P over Lahore

Well to their credit they have extremely small RCS, can fly past Mach 2.5 ish (F-7PG) with a service ceiling of close to 20,000 metres. It shouldn't be taken lightly by the Indians, this isn't just an old F-7, there is a nice Italian radar inside with modern A2A armaments.

170 in service. Would have been nice to have 170 F-16 as well but still a deterrent worth thinking twice about.

At this moment it is carrying 2xAIM 9P and few hundred rounds of 30 m.m for the guns...

Picture also shows the F-7s after burner in ON ...atleast 3 afterburner rings are visible with a hint of full plume behind it......That must have been a one noisy picture..

x_man it seems to me that the visible Sidewinder is the Lima (AIM-9L) because of the triangular front control fins. Lima's control fins have sharp pointed edge while -9P has rectangular tip.

Also the color of nose section is brown, whereas for 9P its usually white. And also the nose (or seeker) section (ahead of fins) of 9P is a bit larger than 9L.

If its true its a good news. It may be the culmination of a project in AWC to arm F-7s with Limas.

However, thats what seems from the photo posted here.

Note: For clarity, open this picture in MS paint and from "image" menu, select "invert colors", then u would see clearly the 9L/M profile.

more like 170 in active service.

Fatman .. that's the core word .. PAF is above 90% active service of it's inventory .. whereas it is believed that 30% of IAF inventory is not air worthy ! ...

Fantastic pictures gentlemen.

But 2 AAMs doesn't bode well against an enemy who's interceptors (Mig29s, Su30s) will be carrying a minimum of 6 AAMs. 2 AAMs will be gone in seconds.

I hope those F7s on alert take off are carrying 4 Aim9s with an underbelly drop tank.

These are the same F7's who got a lock on Mirage 2000 during the recent voilation of Indian jets in Pakistan air space; these jets along with Pakistani pilots are very lethal.

Don't be hyped, it's okay....every country can challenge flying coffins with F -7s :D :pakistan:

Can a F7 really shot-down a intruding plane like mirage 2000 or Su-30.

and what about Mirages? Are they better fighters than F-7p?

If it's indian, then it can shoot it down.

Bcz Indian planes have specially inegrated the 100% coffin guarantee :D

On December 13, an F7 got a lock on a Mirage 2000 M2k. Offcourse Mirage 2000 and SU 30 can be shot down, there are many different tactics that can be used and PAF has developed and mastered them. Dont underestimate our boys my friend, they know what they are doing. This is why the Indians havent even dared to carry out surgical strikes in Pakistan. They wanted to see PAF's combat readiness and were left stunned when an F7 got a clear lock on Mirage 2000.

just asking! Not underestimating PAF :pakistan:

that is some gud pic...
i dont think BVR can be used this close to the border. it will be a close combat scenario.
im not sure in close combat how effective can it be against mig29 and su30. can anyone enlighten me

F-7PG would give a much better performance in close in combat against either of the above two. Also keep in mind that IAF can employ BVR from beyond the IB. They do not have to play by our rules. They can try to lock on to PAF aircraft from across the IB if they are trying to ingress.

Also F-7s can carry 4 AIM-9Ls with their Grifo-7 radars.
