Egypt has finalized its agreement with Russia to build the country's first nuclear power station, opening the door for a final agreement and the construction of the first Russian-built nuclear power station in Egypt.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in China on Monday that his country had finalized the agreement with Russia. And also called Putin for participation in the signing ceremony in Egypt.

Under the agreement, the Russian firm Ross Atom will implement the project, which includes the construction of a Russian-based nuclear power plant in the Dabaa area of northwestern Egypt, comprising four units of 1,200 megawatts each.

On November 19, 2015, Moscow and Cairo signed an initial agreement to build and operate the plant. Since then, the two sides have been discussing the final version of the contract.

Head of the "nuclear stations" to "«صدى البلد»": the signing of the contract before the end of the year according to the agenda of Sisi and Putin

He said: It is worth mentioning that the land of Dabaa accommodates 8 nuclear plants in 8 stages. The first phase aims at constructing a plant with 4 nuclear reactors with 1200 MW capacity, with a total capacity of 4800 MW. The first unit will be operated in 2022 and the rest will continue until 2027. The cost is $ 30 billion, and Russia provides a government loan for Egypt worth $ 25 billion.

Thanks for the tag, bro. Seemed like a productive summit in China. President Xi Jinping is quite the guy. Very respectable and the Chinese laid out the red carpet very nicely for everyone.

The timeline for building the reactors is pretty ambitious. Should be interesting to follow the developments in the next few years. $30 billion is a lot, but for what it will end up yielding in return is well worth it and quite overdue. This is something that Mubarak should've moved on 20 years ago.

Excellent news , Egypt is balancing its foreign relations between West and East wisely and gaining the biggest benefits it could get from both sides.

This project will certainly help in developing western Egypt and the new Alamein city . I also heard about the new industrial zone being built there and major fish farms project being built similar to the ones opened recently in PortSaid and the ones under construction close to galyoun lake in Kafr el shiek .

This is the best way to defeat terrorism by focusing on domestic development especially at border region which would further eliminate terrorist organizations ability to move fighters and weapons .

The following projects I find strategic and interesting to watch over the next 2 years

1) Railway project from old Cairo to new cairo city 67 km long covering around 14 stations

2) The 100,000 greenhouse project ( 100,000 Feddan) dedicated to growing fruits and vegetables for export , one greenhouse output is usually 7-10 higher than a regular Egyptian Feddan , this is basically equivalent to 1 million Fedan using Dutch Technology .

3) Egypt and DP joint venture to develop Suez Canal project

4) The Egyptian 1.5 million Feddan , this is a difficult project but will certainly pay off at the end.

5) Chinese investments in Suez Canal and new Cairo city.

6) Egypt leather industrial complex and Dumiyat furniture industrial city are prime examples of how small and medium size businesses are flourishing in Egypt after recent economic reforms .
There are several industrial zones currently being built in Egypt which will help reduce employment , increase exports and reduce budget deficit.

I can open more than 50 threads on Egypt's development.. but I do not want to put too much, since as you can see there are very few of us here who follow Egyptian projects and Mega-projects..So I'll be doing it slowly, since it needs good translation for most of them too..

Please correct a typing error in your post: I know you mean reduce unemployment..
