What are the benefits to attack India?

Al Qaeda in pakistan is doing that on the directions of the ISI.

ISI uses terrorists to do its dirty job. To strike across the border with deniability.

As to what they stand to gain when they do that. I suspect the reasons have been lost in time. Now days the ISI and Pakistan army does it because that is the whole reasons they exist.

Maybe they believe it will give them some leverage during talks with India and help them extract some money from the US.

At least the terrorists are not getting an easy way in. Smuggling is an age old business. Nothing can stop that.
