Akhilesh Yadav cancels his lecture at Harvard Business School after his minister Azam Khan is frisked at US airport
Boston: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav along with his ministers Azam Khan and Abhishek Mishra have decided to cancel their lectures at the Harvard Business School. This is after Mr Khan, who is Uttar Pradesh's urban development and parliamentary affairs minister, was questioned and detained for some time at the Boston Airport yesterday.
The three Samajwadi Party (SP) members were part of the delegation that was to attend a session on the Maha Kumbh Mela. Neither of them will attend the session now and will return to India. Other members of the delegation are expected to take over a presentation scheduled to be held at the session.
"We demand an apology from the US on the issue as Indians cannot be insulted like this after being invited," senior SP leader Naresh Agarwal said.
External Affairs Ministry spokesman Syed Akbaruddin said India has asked its Embassy in Washington to take up the matter appropriately with the US authorities.
