Bengaluru, June 8: The next-generation Akash-NG missile will be ready for user trials in the next two years. Addressing the media during here on Wednesday, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) Chairman and Managing Director S K Sharma said that the upgraded version will have a new radar and seeker. "We are working on it along with DRDO on this advanced version. It will have a better range (around 40 km). The IAF and Army have already inducted Akash Missile Systems (AMS) and they are satisfactory," Sharma said to a specific query from OneIndia.
He also said that around 90 per cent of complete systems and components used in AMS are indigenous. Payloads for DRDO's UAV programmes To another query on BEL's foray into the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) segment, Sharma said the Company is currently involved with three programmes. "We are certainly involved in one project of DRDO (Rustom) and another two projects. We are not making the UAVs, but would provide the payloads. Around seven to eight percent of our business in the current year will come from new products," Sharma added.

It will be awesome if we use IR seekers for terminal chase,so two missiles one with IR and other with radar seeker will ensure 100 percentage kill probability. They should borrow IR scanning tech from Indian BMD.

Suuuuureeee it is!!

Unlike the LCA, Arjun, insas, Rustom etc that indians can see are flops they are inducting this shite on the word of companies like DRDO

Your army hated the missile its basically a flying insas or Arjun (or a LCA being pulled on a truck:azn:)

However it once again for ego, jobs etc is being shoved down the armys throat

Not that we are complaining snd I sm sure all those poverty stricken indians defecating in the open appreciate you spending billions on a dud

Lol, what a brainjammed suicide troll.

The total value of Akash has been orders is $3 billion & that shows how successful this program is. The links you posted are about army's QRSAM requirement which is totally different from Akash. And QRSAM is being developed in India now.

Now why is poverty stricken, undernourished Pakistanis, willing to blow up for their religion so concerned about our successful missile system ?

Check deeper like alot "made in india" rubbish your military hates it, the only reason it was inducted was your government forced it upon the military

LOL, quora. And even that answer supports my claims. From your own link.

''The ToI article in the question above does not mention that AKASH was never supposed to be a QR-SAM. This explains why the Indian Army is likely to purchase a QR-SAM from Israel. It is not because AKASH is a failure. Moreover the performance of AKASH MK2 will be even better than AKASH MK1.

Apart from that there are some glaring errors in the ToI article. For example:

Neither does Akash have the requisite 360 degree coverage, nor the 3-4 second reaction time the Army wants

Fail. The Rajendra Radar that is at the heart of the AKASH SAM system rotates 360 degrees on a rotating turnstile at a moderate speed. This allows it to perform 360 degree surveillance. The phased array itself has 45 degree scan limits to either side, giving a total scan coverage of 90 degrees, if the radar array is static

Also note that each battery will have 5-6 launch vehicles(probably even more) which means with each vehicle pointing its missiles in a different direction that 360 degree coverage can be achieved without multi face radar antenna on each vehicle.

QR-SAMs will have a range of 15kms, while AKASH will have a range of 25kms-30kms. In other words they are supposed to complement each other. Moreover,AKASH has multiple missile guidance channels. Multiple guidance channels means that one vehicle can control and guide all the missiles it carries and a few more( around 2) missiles from another launcher all at once. The more guidance channels you have the more effort is needed by the adversary to overwhelm a system.''

On paper the Arjun is a desert ferrari in reality its a shit version of the Tata nano

Try to appreciate why your military is trying to push back on these 'made in indua' weapons

We will see how its a failure when it will blow your junk put of sky...
+ users
Indian Air Force - 8 Akash squadrons + 7 on order (each squadron has 48-125 missiles)
I
ndian Army - with modifications - 2 Akash regiments (one regiment is equal to 5 or 6 squadrons)

Excellent news....but drdo should also work to decrease the dimensions of the missile...it'll enable launchers to carry more missiles at a time!!
