Aircraft boneyards of the world

Here goes the pic, it was published in Shaheen Magazine(Official PAF Mag) summer 1993 issue.....the interesting thing to note is the 'Arrow' along the tail and the color scheme to attract children as its parked in Children park in Sargodha.

I was wondering who gave the 11Sqn's insignia to the painter....should be one from the 9 Sqn:lol::lol:

The Pakistani AF is more thoughtful than the PLAAF. They didn't bother to paint the ones they donated at all. They even left the aircraft cannons in place :P

I graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy, in Colorodo.

In the central area, called the Terazzo, are four aircraft on static display. Two of them are war memorials and fought in Vietnam, an F-4 and an F-105. The other two have changed over the years. When I was there, the SW corner had an F-104, which was changed later to an F-15:

This was a Tyndall bird (TY), and in checking my log book, I found that I had flown this jet when I was at Tyndall AFB. It was fun to discover this, and I am proud that this jet has a place of honor at the USAF Academy.

We never touched the war memorials, but we often moved the other jets around at night in what are called "Spirit Missions." It was fun to wake up in the morning and see one of the jets parked in an odd location. In one case, a small experimental "X" plane was actually hoisted onto the roof of a dormitory! And in one of the greatest spirit missions that I know about, some Naval Academy exchange cadets built a submarine "surfacing" on the grass of the terazzo!
