What's new

Air Marshall Aasim Zaheer appointed as new Vice Chief of Air Staff

agree to some extent but does being humble mean the person is loose on discipline or lacks the managements skills?
Or maybe if someone is an arsehole they automatically think being an arsehole is the best thing to be.

Interestingly and more “proofed”, the worlds most recognized air combat tacticians such as Downding, John Boyd, John Warden and generals such as Moshe Dayan were recorded by all their subordinates as approachable and humble.
Perhaps the meanig of humble is misunderstood as meek. Depends on one’s own upbringing and values as to what they interpret being humble as being.

Hi,

Humble has no place for a General command officer---. Humble people are forgiving by nature---. Militaries are not run by kind people---.
Ummm, I'm not satisfied with this explanation. For me being humble is about not being arrogant and as a commander, sometimes you have to listen to your subordinates or be humble enough to respect the nature...

hahaha...that's a bit low ;):D
yeah I think sometimes people equate humility to cowardice and being a big mouthed as being a brave.. and this misunderstanding is cross cultural and exists at diplomatic levels as well. For example, Gangadesh under Modi took IK's offer for peaceful talks as weakness so rejected it and IK then replied that left them huffing and puffing for weeks

Hi,

Humble has nothing to do with listening---. An a'hole commander still listens to his troops
