ahsan iqbal facing tough questions at the hand of Pakistani doctors

How would internet voting for overseas Pakistanis and electronic voting for local Pakistanis serve PTI's own interest

A higher percentage of overseas Pakistanis are PTI voters, and hence making voting easier for them gives PTI a distinct advantage.

Just because parties before PTI made changes for their benefit doesn't mean PTI did it too.

PTI did it too, absolutely, for the reason above.

Important thing is how OSPs and Pakistani-Americans assist Pakistan. Frankly we don't really give a damn.

Regardless of whether PTI wins it's too late to do anything substantial.

The title of Shit hole has been bestowed.

That title is nothing new, either.

Oversea Pakistani are supporting the Pakistani economy so it didn’t make sense to take their right away. They are supporting PTI because they believe in Khan. Vote can go to N and PPP as well if they stop doing corruption.

Allowing oversea Pakistani to vote is the right thing to do. It’s not about advantage, it’s the right of every oversea Pakistani.

And they do have that right. At issue is only the process of said voting, that is all. As I said before:

It is simply incorrect to say that the right to vote for overseas Pakistanis has been taken away. The process for exercising the right to vote was reverted to the previous method, that is all, reversing the changes rushed in by PTI to serve its own voting interests.

The previous method is for the OSP to go to Pakistan and vote in person. That is not feasible for 10m people and you know that. No one in their right mind would spend money on expensive air tickets just to cast a vote. PTI made the law so that they could vote from abroad electronically but PMLN revoked that right. We overseas Pakistanis are obviously not happy about it.

Historic Fact Check

Nawaz League , let us not call it "Muslim League" as that name is reserved to Political party before partition which has no connection to Nawaz Sharif. He hijacked the Brand Name for his own objectives

Comment for Thread

Nawaz League , made all Pakistanis living abroad feel not connected to Pakistan due to their Policies and attacked our birth right

Yet at same time it is the Pakistanis Overseas that help support various humanitarian causes in Pakistan , and also help poor families back home. Or Simply they help Pakistan.

Ahsan Iqbal , thought can deny Pakistani their Right of Vote and also same time play a Dual game of appeasement

He fully deserves the rebuke , and he should have the stomach to digest the rebuke

Obviously, both parties have an equal right to do what is best for their political chances.

You just said the same thing in different words. The reversal took their right to vote overseas. By that standard reversal of Roe vs Wade has not taken abortion rights of American women as well, as we are back to a previous method now where states will individually deal with abortion.

What rushing are you talking about? PTIs mandate included voting for overseas Pakistanis and electronic voting. The changes on laws were in the committees for years. If those rights were reversed just because one party is weak shows a defeatist mentality to suppress voters, which is condemnable.

You are correct: Overturning Roe v Wade has not banned abortion but returned it to the States to legislate as they wish, that is all. And similarly, the right to vote for overseas Pakistanis still exists, but the process has reverted to what it was before PTI changed it to suit its own political demographics. Both are perfectly valid and legal steps by due process.

So because we're more likely to vote for PTI, it should be made more difficult for us to vote?!

Every party in office is equally entitled to pursue its own political advantage by due process. As always.

As an overseas Pakistani it my belief we should NOT have the right to vote.

1. If you left the country for better opportunities and you want to chose leaders of Pakistan over those who actually live there, it is immoral and a blatant conflict of interest. You are far from reality, don't encounter the same daily life problems as those people and above all the right to influence is akin to stealing people's mandate.

2. Overseas Pakistanis don't pay taxes. Why should there be special privileges? I hear most people use remittances as an excuse, but in reality, it does not help any government's cause. They are there to support family members in private capacity. In fact many end up investing in for example in the real estate market, which is overly inflated and unaffordable for the common man living there. IK's friends, Anil Musrat and Zulfi Bukhari, were lobbying hard to become major beneficiaries by introducing mortgage system in Pakistan, an un islamic system and a system which creates a vicious debt cycle. Pakistanis should be glad they are safe from those thugs.
