Let's see if Government of Punjab abides by the demands.

LUDHIANA: Muslims led by Shahi Imam Habib-ur-Rehman Sani protested against the annual convention being organized by the Ahmadiyya community in Qadian, district Gurdaspur, from December 26 to 28. Muslims from all across the state have joined hands against this meet, which according to them is a platform for converting Muslims.

Reportedly finance minister Pranab Mukherjee is likely to attend the Salaana Jalsa (annual congregation) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community at its international headquarters in Qadian that lies in the Punjab’s border district of Gurdaspur. The Muslim community burnt the effigy of the finance minister on the Jagraon Bridge and blocked the entire traffic for over half-an-hour causing inconvenience to the commuters. The protesters demanded that the administration should cancel the seminar as it hurt their feelings. They alleged that the Ahmadiyya community indulged in bringing other Muslims to their fold, which was not acceptable to them.

Congratulations to the Ahmadiyya community for having the courage to try to live their lives in Pakistan. It takes unusual courage to be a religious group that adds new elements to Islam, while trying to remain in the homes and villages of their ancestors. Peace be with you.

The discrimination some people show towards them is unacceptable.

They are patriotic and proud Pakistanis.

PRESS RELEASE

Re: PRANAM (sic) MUKKERJEE’S PARTICIPATION IN THE CONVENTION OF QADIANIS

The Shariath Protection Council admits that Shri Pranab Mukherjee, the Union Finance Minister, like any other Indian citizen possesses the Fundamental Right of Movement and Right of Expression and so, none can prevent him from participating in the Convention organized by the QADIANIS who are considered by Muslims not as MUSLIMS but as KAFIRS ( unbelievers). But if the Hon’ble Minister intends to interact with Qadianis, taking them to be Muslims, then it is incumbent on the Council to correct his wrong assumption and to make known that, his participation in the said Convention, despite their protests, will wound the sentiments of Muslims, as a result of which Muslims will cease to take his Party as their ally.

Shahi Imam terms Pranab's decision as ‘prudent’

LUDHIANA: The Shahi Imam organized a press conference here on Sunday to express satisfaction and gratitude over the decision of Congress party to avoid the annual congregation of Ahmaddiya community being held in Qadian, district Gurdaspur. The press conference was organized in the Jama Masjid in city where people from Muslim community participated.

While addressing mediapersons, Habib-Ur-Rehman Sani, Shahi Imam Jama Masjid, said they were highly pleased with the decision taken by the finance minister of not attending the annual congregation of the Ahmaddiya community.

He asserted that this decision had averted a big clash that could have taken place if the minister had attended the function. He said that they had been protesting against his visit to the Admadiyya annual meet as it could have boosted the morale of people, who have been debarred from the Muslim fraternity because of their deviated path.

Muslims all across the state had been protesting against the visit of the finance minister, Pranab Mukherjee, to the annual congregation of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community at its international headquarters in Qadian. To express resentment the Muslim community had even burnt the effigy of finance minister on the Jagraon Bridge and blocked traffic for over half-an-hour on December 25. The protest was registered by the Muslims in all Jama Masjids of the state including Moga, Amloh, Pathankot, Nawa Shaher, Patiala, Phagwada, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Bathinda, Rajpura, Jagraon and Ajitwal.

The convention that began on December 26 would continue till December 28.
