JHANG (Staff Report) – Pakistan Rah-e-Haq party outclassed the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Jhang local bodies election on Saturday, becoming the second major party in district after Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

The party was founded by Maulana Ahmad Ludhiyanvi, a noted religious leader having close ties with Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ).

According to unofficial and inconclusive election results of district Jhang independent candidates won 95, PML-N secured 56 while Pakistan Rah-e-Haq party has bagged 12 seats.

In Orangi a number of parties were running the elections with ASWJ including PTI which is why I have lost a lot of respect for said party. Others included JI and ANP. Not knowing that ASWJ is anti shia is not an excuse. We should know of its evil actions against shias.

All parties have made alliances at one point or another with aswj all over Punjab which is an unfortunate thing given the fact that they have killed thousands of shias in Pakistan

If the final results support the preliminary estimates, the success of independents is pretty interesting and offers a lot of food for thought in terms of the direction of politics in Pakistan.

Many people angry with PMLN these candidates have full backing of PMLN once they elected they join PMLN just to deceive people.

So you're saying that people would not have voted for these candidates had they run as PMLN candidates? While that is possible, do you know if the PMLN ran candidates against these independents for most seats?

I am skeptical though because the PMLN is estimated to have the next largest share of seats, so obviously they have significant support still.
