ISLAMABAD: Terrorist outfits, including Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and others have issued fresh threats to hit sensitive installations in the federal capital on and before the Independence Day, intelligence agency sources said.

“The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and its secondary groups have planned to target Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) long march rally and Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT),” the sources, quoting intelligence reports, said.

The intelligence agencies warned the Islamabad administration that the PTI rally could storm the Red Zone through Serena entrance to occupy the Constitution Avenue like the Sikh community on 23rd May this year as the D-Chowk has been excavated for Metro Bus Project and there was no room, even to stand on Jinnah Avenue, the sources said adding that the aspect of joining PAT in PTI rally, cannot be ruled out.

Intelligence agencies feared massive tragedy during the PTI’s rally and PAT’s sit-in, the sources said. “There are serious threats from terrorism outfits and the intelligence agencies have warned the law enforcing agencies to take effective measures to counter the threats of possible terrorism,” the sources maintained.

“There are significant threats of attacks on the PTI rally at Islamabad or during the long march to Islamabad and PAT’s sit-in at Lahore, not only from TTP and its subordinate groups but also from independent clusters of terrorist outfits,” the sources, quoting reports, said.

Following fresh threats from the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), comprehensive and multi-dimensional strategies have been made to counter PTI’s long march to keep law and order and to counter possible terrorism during the rally and long march.

Though, some parts of the strategy have not been exposed and would not be made public due to some security reasons, but it has been made clear in the security plan that peace would be maintained at all costs, sources engaged in finalising security strategy told The News.

A joint meeting of the law enforcing agencies of federal capital and the Punjab discussed different proposals to maintain law and order and counter strategy of possible terrorism and settled on quintessence of the basic security strategy which could jointly be used in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and Punjab.

GT Road will be closed by placing heavy containers at different points, almost every populated area located at GT Road will be barricaded and armed and the relevant police will be responsible for handling the rally and the officers commanding the areas, will be answerable for any untoward situation, while Motorway will be closed for rallies/vehicles of rallies, the sources said and added that carrying any kind of firearms and sharp weapons, will strictly be prohibited.

“Though, detention of local or central key leader, have not yet decided but the district administration will be authorised to settle an issue according to the situation to keep peace,” the sources maintained.“Freehand cannot be given to the participants of the rally beyond the law and miscreants will not be left unbridled,” the sources said.

“Military troops will be positioned at sensitive installations including Diplomatic Enclave while Rangers and other paramilitary forces will be deployed at entry points and will keep patrolling with Elite police force as usual,” the sources said. The law enforcing agencies will act under the command of inspector general of police Islamabad, the sources concluded.

The problem is these rented terrorists have spread through out Pakistan, they are specially hiding & operating from Karachi & Balochistan. PA should had never started a single operation, they should had launched multiple operations in Karachi & Balochistan along with NWA.

Now what will happen here, when PA decides to go for ops against rented terrorists in other province, rented terrorists will start moving.

The fact is a lot needs to be done to insure the safety of Pakistan.
