@Nilgiri Would I be right in concluding that BJP is not anti Muslim and it's vote amongst Indian Muslims has increased. Please give me lowdown.

Yes more Muslims on ground are fed up of the sheer vote bank politics and being lied to (for a generation or two) by the "pro-muslim/secular" dynasty parties....who's grand (fraying) strategy is consolidating minorities and splitting the majority (but not really doing anything major ground breaking stuff to improve ppl lives past these identities they want votes from).

They (muslims) engage in realpolitik and see through the identity politics charade increasingly, more than most of the vaunted lutyens old guard give them credit for (because that upsets their edifice and play-acting)....they (muslims, minorities more broadly) want results on the ground now....and more willing to give people a chance (past the politicking noise/posturing, esp from rabid noise generators everyone uses like subject of this topic) to get it.

Lot of internet-connected/"elite" types tend to focus only on the 1%-er media making 99% of the noise in the highest level....and are almost addicted to such an echo chamber (with binary narrative at best).

But most issues are talked about at much lower level by stake holders and lower level campaign ppl and community groups....in quid pro quo and shades of grey....thats where the bulk votes (esp swing votes) actually materialise.

We will see what the turnout/vote % trend among groups is this time for the parties.....I would say wait for elections to be over and then give one more cycle of (state) elections to UP + Bihar too...longer term shift/trends are still developing from the 90s (when the political competition and economic competition doors were truly opened).

This is really the one long term strength of having a federal democracy (once you have run it long enough and gained experience)....long term it provides flexibility and reality check and most of all anonymity of your decision to try something and judge its results on political arena. Over time competition does build up past simple identity politics....because peoples memories do linger....and it boils down to you get what you are overall...and so you got to keep improving on it.

Hopefully the larger population also mature over time (and deeply understand what is role of politics versus actual on the ground stuff), there is good differences rising between states so people can see for themselves, what works and what is no longer working....in accordance to their priority for life.
