Afghan civilians suffer casualties in latest cross-border shelling by Pakistani forces

The latest cross-border shelling by Pakistani forces have inflicted casualties on a number of the local residents of south-eastern Khost province, the local officials said Thursday.

A spokesman for the provincial police commandment confirmed that the shelling on certain areas located close to Durand Line late on Wednesday night leaving at least 4 civilians dead and 5 others wounded.

The source further added that 20 residential houses and as many vehicles were also damaged in the latest shelling.

This comes as the Pakistani military claimed Wednesday that dozens of militants launched an attack on Pakistani soldiers in North Waziristan close to Durand Line.

According to a statement released by media wing of Pakistani military, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), at least 3 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the attack and 7 others sustained injuries.

Their fascination with the "Durand" always baffles me as if Durand was the husband of their grannies. Why not call it simply border.

In Afghanistan, four militants have been killed and three others injured in an air strike on the Taliban hideouts near Tirin Kot city in the Uruzgan province.

According to the Afghan army, the fighting aircrafts also destroyed the militants' huge weapon caches.
this article (by Radio Pakistan) is talking about an airstrike by ANA/NATO in Uruzgan province (has no border with Pakistan) and not Khost.
