The Afghan government lost control or influence of nearly 5 percent of its territory between January and May, the U.S government's top watchdog on Afghanistan said in a report on Friday, an indication of the challenges its forces are facing.

...

"They believed they were going to be able to seize and hold terrain, and they failed to do so," Nicholson told a Pentagon briefing via video link on Thursday. The report, however, said insurgents had 10 additional districts under their control or influence in the same timeframe. It was not possible to reach the Afghan government immediately for comment.

.
According to the website last year afghan government had control over 70 % of its area and now it has dwindled to 65 % . So much for things getting better .

.
But that's really slow :) that's 1.25% per month and it will take them 6 years and 8 months to capture the entire land at this rate from the scratch.

But if they have 30% already, then it reduces to 4 yrs and 8 months. That means by the end 2021, there will be no puppet govt blaming Pakistan... or blaming Pakistan from their exiled countries?

.
And here they were dreaming on taking Pakistan on. :disagree:

Yes :) as I said that this rate but I know the rate can vary and different actors can influence it. Also there is this faucet whirl phenomena i.e. the flow speeds up as the water level reduces.

mmm ok -- study non-linear systems?

Check my comment above. Things are going to get better for Pakistan in a few years.
Going solely on your model, hope so. But as long as ANA thugs and Indian influence remains, its going to be difficult.

@A-Team @Sher Malang bro i think both of you have stated that Taliban contest more land now but this report says otherwise ........... prefer your version as you are actually on the ground

I think that's taking into account the ANA thugs as I don't think they are not opposing them. However if at any point Pakistan decides to help the opposition, it would be accelerated.
