Advani urges Mamata to take up Bangla influx
Advani urges Mamata to take up Bangla influx - Indian Express
L K Advani, BJP, CM Mamata Banerjee, Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, Bangla influx Posted: Mon Jul 11 2011, 02:53 hrs kolkata:
Senior BJP leader L K Advani has urged Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to take up the issue of illegal migration with Bangladesh during her visit to the country with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Congratulating her for ending the 34 years of Communist rule in bengal, Advani termed her rule as the beginning of a new chapter in its politics.
I congratulate Mamataji for this....Overall the change that has come here has been good, the former deputy Prime Minister said.
He was speaking at a function to commemorate the birth anniversary Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, founder of Jana Sangha.
Referring to the role played by Mookerjee, Advani said his sacrifice was extraordinary and he was the first martyr of Independent India.
Recently there have been murmurs of attempts being made to restore the pre-1953 position in Kashmir. We want to assert that the dream of liberating Kashmir from India will never be realised. We should not step back an inch from the integration that has been possible because of the sacrifice made by Syama Prasad Mookerji and it is our aim to ensure that Article 370 of the Constitution is repealed, he said.
