First there is no migration from Bangladesh in Assam except Hindus. Few bams here and there should not be considered as migration which every country faces including Bangladesh.
Regarding ther bold part, when we do care less but that just proves your insecurity. We know how, for the last 60 years your government tried to subdue Bengali nationalism and barred every media from Bangladesh and always projected Bangladesh as a backward rubbish country filled with Hindu killers. We know these, and we are not stupid.
We have nothing to be insecure about , sorry brother but despite what you see on this forum,talks of muslim brotherhood and solidarity etc. The ground reality is quite different . I 've seen first hand myself , Bengali muslims in WB , Muslims in Assam etc they identify themselves as " Bangali " or "akhomiya " and as "indian " never as "bangladeshi ".
I don't know on what basis you say - the GOI has projected Bangladesh as a so called " poor " , Backward country. The GOI is not in the business of putting tags on regions on communities . But of course its people 's perceptions about the Bangladesh region.
Why only Bangaldesh , the perception is that West Bengal , Bihar and Orissa are the most backward and impoverished places in Eastern India . Hell the perception of WB with its commie problem is far, far worse than Bangladesh . I 've lived there so I can say this on a first hand basis.
No question of suppressing bengali nationalism but of course there were horrific riots after the BABRI masjid demolition in Bangaldesh . These bits of news spread to the Hindu radical areas under BJP influence - but even then WBengal had minimal coverage of these events.
Only in the
last 8-9 years or so - the migration problem has reached epic proportions causing a lot of problems , security related etc . Just an example , sim cards and mobiles were purchased from places in WBengal by people involved in the Mumbai massacre. Such facts came out during the Trial . Even though Wbengal is itself peaceful it can hardly be allowed to become a conduit for nefarious activities . That was just one example , others are many .illegal trafiking in women , tax evasion , other crimes - and WB police have credible information that several trails lead up to illegal migrants.This was why our CM had to personally request the centre to look into the issue .
Otherwise unlike what you may have often heard on the forum , the Demographic change isn't really that much of a factor in bengal at least as bengalis have strong cultural ties cutting across religious barriers .
So Bengalis in WB are culturally connected to those in Bangladesh , the rest of India doesn't really care except once in a blue moon , there is some RSS leader or Shiv Sena chief talking about the dangers of illegal migration in religious terms ( which people in Wbengal don't give too hoots to ).
In real life there is no hatred except what you read on pdf.
