Dhaka: Bangladesh GDP (Gross Domestic Product) is expected to grow by 6.4% in the current fiscal year. Asian Development Bank came up with the forecast in its outlook update report 2014 released on Thursday. The inflation is expected to decline to 6.5% during the period from 7.4% in fiscal 2013-14, the ADB report said. According to the ADB forecast, the export growth of Bangladesh will rise to 13% in fiscal 2014-15, up from 12% in last fiscal year. ADB Principal Economist in Bangladesh Mohammad Zahid Hossain presented the update report of the Asian Development Outlook 2014 at a press briefing at its office in capital’s Agargaon. “The investment scenario in Bangladesh has improved and the trend will continue in the second half of the current fiscal year,” Zahid Hossain said replying to a query from reporters. -

If Bangladesh and Pakistan sustains current growth rate for next 20 years, Bangladesh will surpass(gdp) Pakiatan in 2035..

Pakistan has bright future if PML-N Government is allowed to complete its term. Forget 20 years, I'm willing to bet growth rate can go from 4.2% to 7% in 4 years. 20,000 + MW and $32 - $50 Billion Chinese investment in infrastructure projects alone will end load shedding and boost morale.

I'm the dim will make sure that no economic growth comes during PML-N's tenure.

Even though 6.4% is a decent Growth but Bangladesh is almost stable on around 6% from the past many years,I don't know why are they not able to break the 7-8% barrier considering they do have the capability to do so.

any particular reason as i know if pakistan was as stable as Bangladesh is today,we would be growing atleast more than 7% now

Sorry for the late reply but just saw the thread.

The reason is that BD has had some volatility due to the rivalry between the Awami League and BNP parties.

In the current fiscal GDP expanded by 6.5% a year and would have been 7% if it was not for the industrial strife linked to politics over the last year.

Provided things are stable till 2020, BD GDP growth is expected to hit 7% a year average between now and then.

Growth of more than 7% a year is not possible due to inadequate infrastructure.

all of the asia booming especially south asia due to current favorable condition of market access, shifting priorities and low oil prices. so far unfortunately pakistan hasnt been able to pick up growth though. Lets hope it cross 6% atleast if it cant be one of leading countries of this region

the prediction by WB/MF for next three years isnt above 5%.

well the investment will bring growth of course like it happened in 60s,80s, 2000s but real question is whether it will be sustainable or not.

I just cannot fathom why Banglas are reproducing so much.

If you just get a goods nights rest and not have so many children Bangladesh would be such a wealthy country.

But your country is overburdened with people like India and will tip over the edge within 50 years. What a shame.
