Abdullah Gul lauds economic ties with Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - A high-level Parliamentary delegation from Pakistan led by Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Defence and Defence Production met with Turkish President Abdullah Gul on Thursday.
According to a message received here, the Turkish President appreciated the smooth transfer of power from one elected government to the other as a result of recent elections in Pakistan.
He said this was an indication that democracy had strengthened and Pakistan was moving in the right direction.
He said both Pakistan and Turkey had similar problems and hoped that like Turkey, Pakistan would also overcome challenges it was facing today. He observed that the recent initiatives undertaken by the leadership of Turkey and Pakistan in the economic field were yielding positive results.
Senator Mushahid Hussain conveyed the best wishes of the Parliament and the people of Pakistan. He said Turkey and Pakistan were joined together with deep and abiding bonds of friendship and brotherhood which had withstood the test of times.
He said coming to Turkey was like coming home for him and for the delegation.
He appreciated the positive role of Turkey in the region, particularly Turkish contribution for hosting Afghanistan-Pakistan-Turkey trilateral summit meetings.
He said Turkey had made remarkable progress in the last decade and commended the public welfare oriented policies of the Turkish government.
Pakistan delegation’s visit was organised by Pakistan Institute for Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT), a Pakistani think-tank, with a purpose to understand the evolution and consolidation of democracy in Turkey.
Pakistan delegation’s engagements include meetings with Turkish leadership, Speaker and various Parliamentary Committees of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, political parties and interaction with leading Turkish think-tanks.
Besides Mushahid Hussain, the delegation includes Syed Naveed Qamar, Senator Farhatullah Babar, Senator Mir Hasil Bizenjo, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari and Shaista Pervaiz Malik.

@Neptune yara our Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Defence and Defence Production is in turkey :woot: ........ seems like they're going ahead with the choppers :D !!!!!
