Aap News program ‘Aap Kay Muqabil’ shut down with immediate effect: Rauf Klasra

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani TV journalist Rauf Klasra said that his current affairs show with Aap News was shut down with immediate effect.

Taking to Twitter, the senior journalist thanked his viewers and said would be no show on Monday.

“Well @aapnewspk management has formally informed us our tv program @AapKayMuqabil has been closed down with immediate effect. There will be no show tonight. Thank you dear viewers for your trust and immense response,” Klasra tweeted.

In some of their recent shows, Rauf Klasra and his co-host Amir Mateen had highlighted the issue of conflict of interest by some powerful government ministers.

This is not the first time a TV show has been forced to be taken off air over anti-government criticism.

In August this year, senior journalist and former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi slammed Prime Minister Imran Khan for shutting down his talk show on Pakistani news channel ’24 news’.

In his YouTube channel, Sethi said, “There is a conservative effort on the part of the government to censor media. My show was banned from television because I was speaking the truth and they don’t like hearing the truth.”

Najam Sethi has been critical on the Imran Khan government and its policies.

Democracy and press don't go together. But, overall situation is not bad. But these two guys are the best and senior most journalist in Pakistan. I personally read there articles and regularly watch there program.

I do not know the reason of this show being taken off air but big LOL at the news report plugging in Noora's poodle Najam Sethi in the mix.



Najam Sethi spewed filth about IK's wife in proper bazaari language and was asked to apologize within 30 days by PEMRA. He failed to do so and hence his show was taken off air. Pehlay choori phir seena zoori. This is not Purana Pakistan.

His show being taken off air had nothing to do with criticism of the government. If criticism is leading to banning of channels and shows then Geo News, Dawn News, Dunya etc would have been banned LONG ago.

Rauf goes beyond a certain point. This is the way he does his program. Thats his style. He thinks this is the way he is popular. In Pakistan another problem is personal agenda. These journalists are driven by personal agendas, not by love of the country.

He always rubs a lot of influential people the wrong way. He recently got a presidential order stopped single handily thereby causing immense discomfort in ruling elites.

Pakistan doesn't deserve a maverick guy like him.

Arnab and Klasara cannot be compared. Klasara is a simple guy who doesn't know the ropes. He deserve what he got.

Rauf Klasra and Aamir Mateen are credible patriotic and independent thinkers. If they've made a mistake, make it known to them let them correct that - but continue their journalistic work.
