A shoe factory in Rangpur

A shoe factory in Rangpur is changing the local life style.

Bangladesh is really conquering low end manufacturing.

Only way to create millions of jobs.

No point having jobless growth based on consumption and service sector.

Good for billionaires whilst the rest die of covid.

I was less watching the products and was more keenly watching our women workers wearing beautiful dresses while working.

Well, the modern Western dress/ uniform codes are still not being followed in many of the factory floors. Nevertheless, our people are eating well and wearing well.

After all, it is BD that protects and warms up Westerners bodies from the bitter cold.

It shows we are continuously improving the standard of living. We could have done better without the Indian floodwater rushing in to destroy much of our hard-earned achievements.

Women working is a beautiful sight.

It’s the only way a society will progress.

You cannot hide and/or abort (Hindu answer) 50% of your population.

Individual salaries is a pointless measure. Household income is the key to lifting people out of poverty.

High household income keeps the pressure off wage inflation. In turn keeps BD competitive.

These women have very basic education. So am especially heartened to see we can give such people gainful employment.

Their daughters will be better educated and can take up opportunities in the service sector.

As for floods, virtually every Bangladeshi extracts water from the ground through pumps. Without regular floods - ground water would not replenish. Which is why our water reserve is nearly the same as India’s - with a tenth of the population. It means we can weather bouts of droughts much better than India.

@bluesky bhai these shoe factories were limited to a few export zones two decades ago.

Now they are all over the place and even in small towns in Rangpur.

Very glad to see this...

Halal ruji is Halal ruji....
