A while ago, I saw a thread about an FC casualty in the tribal district today. The account reporting this was Baloch insurgent linked (or maybe an Indian posing as a Pakistani account). Having said that, the casualty has been taken. That is correct news. I would want to emphatically disabuse few folks of the notion that TTP would cease to exist IF (big IF) TTA halts it from using Afghan soil to attack Pakistan. The reason for the continued existence of TTP would be their roots in the tribal structure and the land (tribal districts). TTP would not be in a position to occupy and control territories as it did during the first half of the 2000s due to the nonexistence of military presence in the area (or scant, localized presence at best), but it would merge with the civilian population. This fusion of hostile elements within the populace is the most difficult to weed out and requires high-quality HUMINT/SIGNIT to be identified, surveilled, and neutralized before the damage is done. So, nobody should be wishful in their thinking (or buy the hostile propaganda) that even if TTA plays ball in Afghanistan, there would be no problems at the home front.

We as citizens need now exert pressure on our security establishment to remove the bottlenecks in the intelligence gathering domains (as stated above), so preemptive response becomes lightning-quick, and domestic networks/modules are busted on a routine basis. This pressure of terror modules is fundamental to reduce the high attrition rates our forces are taking on the Western flank of the Indus.

If TTA doesn't play ball, we would know about that soon enough. How would we know? The focus should be on markers like the free movement of insurgent elements across the fenced border (fencing has proven to be a farce) and cross-border raids on our border outposts from Afghanistan. That is a different can of worms altogether.
