LAHORE: More than 90 Pakistani companies will exhibit their products at the Pakistan Show (Expo) starting in Amritsar from May 8.

Pakistan’s basic and value-added textiles, agriculture and allied services, healthcare, gems and jewellery, steel industry, warehousing, construction equipment, jute products, wedding concepts and consumer durables would remain on display at Trillium Mall, Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Engineer Sohail Lashari told newsmen here on Monday.

Entrepreneurs from Gujranwala and Sargodha would have 85 stalls at the five-day exhibition arranged by the LCCI in collaboration with the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said Engineer Lashari and added that a large number of leading members of various chambers in Pakistan would also be participating in the show.

Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit would formally inaugurate the show in the presence of Indian Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

A stall of Pakistani food would also be set up while prominent singers Malku and Arif Lohar would perform there.

“The exhibition will help translate the positive vibes into a significant leap in transactions and flow of goods across the border. Trade has already accelerated with the formal exchange of goods between India and Pakistan increasing from $250 million in 2003 to $2.4 billion in 2014, showing an annual growth rate of 25 per cent in the last 10 years.

Experts quote the trade potential between the two nations to be as high as 10 times the current value,” said the LCCI president.
