There are plenty of super-tall (over 984 feet) buildings in the world that were proposed but never made it through to reality.In this video you'll find a few of the buildings that, as proposed, would have become the world's tallest (or close to it). Keep in mind, CTBUH defines unfinished as "when site works had begun, but were completely halted, and no reports indicate that construction will continue."
Building has stalled for a number of reasons, including finance running out, recessions hitting and political unrest. So here is the video of 8 tallest skyscraper projects that started construction but got cancelled anyway.
