Russians' disapproval of US actions hits all-time high

Almost three quarters of Russians have a bad opinion of the United States according to research by an influential independent pollster.

The Levada center survey shows 71 percent of Russians are upset with US policies, the highest figure in modern Russian history. In the early 1990s the number of Russians unhappy with US policies was under 10 percent. Huge peaks of dissatisfaction were registered in 2003 and in 2009, but this is the largest ever.

The attitude to the EU is also the worst in decades with about 60 percent of respondents saying they had a negative attitude towards it.

The news hardly comes as a surprise given the current situation in Ukraine and the US support to the openly anti-Russian regime in Kiev. It should be noted that Ukraine ranked second after the USA in the list of countries that Russians consider most hostile. Other hostile nations mentioned by Russians were the former Soviet republics in the Baltics – Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia - all considered to infringe the rights of Russian speakers.

The number of Russians who said they disapproved of Ukraine was under 50 percent and only slighter higher that those who said they had a mostly positive attitude towards the country. It was also well below the historical peak of over 60 percent in early 2009 – most likely as a result of an especially acute gas row between the two countries.

When researchers asked Russians to name five countries they considered the friendliest and allies, the top answers were Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, Armenia and India. Belarus and Kazakhstan signed an agreement on forming a single economic bloc with Russia last week and China has recently sealed a major 30-year energy deal with Russian natural gas producers.

The poll was conducted in late May among 1600 adults in 45 different regions all over the Russian Federation.

Good news. India also counts Russia as one of the closest allies. Hopefully , Russia can help India and China sort out their border dispute. India is also close to Armenia. India-Armenia-Russia should co-operate trilaterally as well.

haha, India and China arent going to become friends because they are both friends with Russia, its more likely the Chinese will eventually try to take Manchuria back than them all becoming one big happy family.

And they can be unhappy all they want, give an Indian the chance to live in America and they jump at it.

Really indians never give **** about US may it be nuclear test, taking stand with Russians on a Ukraine.Mostly indian think Usa is a opportunity but we hate there cultural values and family values.WE don't trust them simply As for china we share a very peaceful history with them Last war which was happens was almost 52yrs ago We share same subcontinent.we have more reasons of being united rather being fighting Sorry Racist hypocrites like you can't understand it.

So you are saying the once rival superpower, who collapsed in a spectacular fashion on live television, is not fond of the still-standing party?

Who funded that survey? Haha.

Countries sharing the same subcontinent are why the vast majority in wars throughout history have started, USA family values arent great but I would take them any day over the Indian family values of honour killings and mass rape.

Well its true Russia can help mediating between India and China. However which type of compromise will both party be willing to make/accept. I dont think India will accept giving up say aksai chin for say south tibet. Since India has a policy engrained in its constituion never to cede any land it claims(and if they need to be, it still has to be passed through the parliament, which we all know will never be accepted). So how do you suppose any Inidan government can accept giving up those claims? It simply wont ever happen, sinceit will mean the end of that government/prime minister.:agree:
Also the declassified files revealed that it was indian former prime misnister Nehru who even started the 1962 war with China but it has always been propagated by the government that it was the opposite. This has led to a population/government establishment that is mainly anti 'hegemonistic' china seeking to grab India's land and launched a surprised attack after proclaiming they were brothers. That has always been the government rethoric. So it will be a daunting task to erase such an image and restore trust between the two countries.

So no i dont think the border dispute will be solve anytime soon. maybe a century/decades and im being optimistic.

However the U.S/west is still there beside India if ever it/we need her to counter China.:p:

So India will have to make a crucial decision in the coming decades if it will lean more towards us or stay closer to a Russia/China sphere.:bunny::usflag:

Russia can convince China to accept the current LoAC as the International Border or at least put behind the border issue and focus on the economics.

As for the leaning part, we are non-aligned as always :enjoy:
