70,000 houses under MAP to be finished by 2018: Manohar Parrikar | Zee News

Panaji: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Saturday said all 70,000 houses proposed to be constructed under marriage accommodation project (MAP) for Armed forces would be complete by 2018.

"Under (Atal Bihari) Vajpayee government the proposal to have MAP was conceived. Out of total two lakh, 70,000 were supposed to be built under first phase," Parrikar told reporters here today.

He said subsequent governments have failed to complete the project and in last ten years, only 5,000 flats were built.

"But in one year, 16,000 were completed for MAP. Next year 30,000 houses will be completed and by 2018 all the 70,000 houses would be built. The first phase would be completed in 2018," assured the Defence Minister.

He said the roads leading to the borders were also being completed.

"Few roads were getting completed at the rate of one foot a day. The work on hard rock was slowed down. We provided them automatic drilling machine. Now 10-12 feet of road is completed daily. We aim to complete 25 feet of road in a day," he added.

Referring to the controversies surrounding his statements in New Delhi, Parrikar said Opposition parties, which can't point out any fault in the government, are resorting to such unwanted controversies.

The Opposition can't digest our performance and hence is making such statements, the minister added.

I know what MAP is. Do you have a point ? Why is "Armed Forces" in BOLD ?

OROP is a major issue and Prime Minister and Defense Minister has promised that OROP will be implemented

If 'One Rank One Pension' gets implemented it will benefit lakhs of ex-Army personnel and war widows as OROP means that two retired soldiers having same rank and same length of service should get same pension irrespective of their date of retirement.

Lalit Modi issue is even serious one but it need some more time and ED is working on it.

OROP is already settled, its only a matter of WHEN it can be implemented. Possible the next budget cycle.

How is Lalit Modi issue a serious matter ? Its a joke, its a storm in a tea cup.

Government and Opposition both should work to implement it.

You think Lalit Modi case is not serious ? 1700 cr is nothing when its about the India's GDP but by those 1700 cr , many development projects can be implemented in rural India.

About OROP, BJP Govt. will do it irrespective of the opposition. Opposition has no role here.

Now Lalit Modi "case" is just an alleged violation of forex laws and alleged Hawala, both of which is almost impossible to prove. At worst it is a tax evasion case.

Second - Lalit Modi ""allegedly" took money from BCCI (took bribe) which is a private body and does not belong to the people of India.

So unless you are going to tell me that Mukesh Ambani's personal wealth can fund many development projects in rural India, its foolish and idiotic to say that someone's personal wealth or wealth of a private club like BCCI.

Its a common misconception that BCCI belongs to the people of India, it does not.

The Narendra Modi government has said it is committed to OROP, a key promise made during Lok Sabha poll. It is, however, yet to implement the scheme.

Close to 22 lakh ex-servicemen and over six lakh war widows stand to be the immediate beneficiaries of the scheme, which envisages a uniform pension for the defence personnel who retire in the same rank with the same length of service, irrespective of their date of retirement.

As their relay hunger strike over the 'One Rank One Pension' demand entered its fifth day today, ex-servicemen said that they are considering taking help from opposition parties, especially in Bihar, to push their cause.

New Delhi, June 17, 2015
More than two dozens cases of financial irregularities, money laundering and criminal cases have been filed against Lalit Modi by various investigative agencies in the country.

Till now, ED has issued three showcause notices sent to Lalit Modi in cases of IMG, Cricket South Africa and Performance Deposit issue.

Others cases against Lalit Modi are:

1) ED probing the $80 million amount paid by Multi Screen Media (MSM) to World Sports Group (WSG) as facilitation fees to withdraw from the telecast rights contract.

2) ED probing whether $25 million of the $80 million paid by MSM to WSG was routed into the illegal accounts of Lalit Modi, his associates and politicial beneficiaries.

3) ED probing Modi having an allegation that he had told selective bidders how much to bid and win during the first IPL team auction in 2008. The difference in bid amounts of the winner Rajasthan Royals and loser was $300,000.

4) ED probing whether Modi has used illegal money to buy his corporate jet through a Cayman Islands Company.

5) ED is probing Ramesh Govani who owns the Four Seasons Hotel in Mumbai where Lalit Modi routinely stayed.

6) ED is probing the investment of Rs 10 crore made by Modi's wife in Indian heritage hotel through a Mauritius-based company.

7) Some cases related to FEMA violations, such as ownership of IPL franchisee, nature of foreign investments and valuation of shares and transfers thereof in respect of some franchisees are under ED probe.

In an Action Taken Report (ATR) filed before the Parliamentary Standing Committee (PSC) on Finance, the government said last December 2014, that the ED has already issued showcause notices involving an amount of Rs 2,148.3 crore of contravention of provisions of Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (FEMA) against the Lalit Modi, BCCI officials and other private companies.

Other than Enforcement Directorate, the Income Tax department had sent notice to Lalit Modi dated 16/09/2010 saying the department is in possession of information through AIR that Modi has entered into high value financial transactions during the financial year 2008-09 without quoting his PAN number. Under IT Rules - quoting of PAN is mandatory.

In addition, the Mumbai zonal unit of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence had sent summon to Modi dated 04/11/2010, in connection with import of aircraft by M/s Golden Wings Pvt Ltd., in which Modi was supposed to give evidence and produce documents in related case.

So, not only ED officials, but even the income tax department, directorate of revenue intelligence (DRI), passport office and police officials of a few cities are awaiting a meeting with Lalit Modi.

Singh, in his reply in the Parliament, also said: “The Ministry only grants permission to BCCI from sports angle for participation of Indian cricket Teams in International events abroad and holding International cricket matches in India at no cost to the government subject to the clearance of Ministry of External Affairs from political angle and Ministry of Home Affairs from security angle.”

Singh also said that the draft of the National Sports Development Bill is designed to bring all the NSFs and BCCI under the RTI Act.

BCCI was an autonomous body but regarding allotment of franchisees, match fixing, betting etc but it comes under Sports Authority of India which comes under Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs

That is just blackmail to get the money faster, it means nothing. Pretty much everybody knows Modi is a man of his word.

That is political witch hunt. So far there has been no FIR for any irregularity. That is because there is not enough evidence for any FIR.

What is your point ? That the congress vendetta machinery is efficient ?

Tomorrow all these cases can be booked against you too. No proof is required. Allegations are enough.

You are just proving my point.

The money belongs to an autonomous private body called the BCCI. BCCI operate under SAI, the same way Reliance operate under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. That does not mean Reliance belongs to the MCA any;more than the BCCI belongs to the SAI.

That is not blackmail but the right of the ex servicemen.

Defence ministry to directly disburse Rs 51,000-crore pension, benefitting 24 lakh ex-servicemen - The Economic Times
The Defence Ministry is implementing an ambitious plan to credit Rs 51,000 crore worth of pensions directly into the accounts of ex-servicemen, doing away with an earlier process of banks - mostly state owned - being the disbursement agency.

ED sources said an MEA appeal could also cite the pending blue corner notice against the ex-IPL boss and the probe being carried out by various agencies. The ED will also urge MEA to provide the details of the Fema adjudication worth Rs 1,700 crore against Modi, officials said.

BCCI works under Sports Authority of India and BCCI cant organise any Cricket match without the approval from the Government , Be it the travelling of the Indian Cricket team players aboard or organising any Cricket match in any Cricket Stadium in India.

Cricket matches are played in Stadiums and stadiums belongs to Government . BCCI doesnt get any money directly when the tickets are being sold in any Stadium. The Corruption is there because of match fixing and selling of the commericals rights.

If it was their "right" the Supreme Court of India would have directed the govt. to do it.

They have not done so because they have no such "right".

So what ? What does it prove ? That he was a pragmatic business man like Ambani or like a thousand others ? Like our Neta's who never go to jail ?

Trying doing the same to Ambani. You think he is not guilty of Foreign exchange violation ? What about Sharad Pawar ? Sonia Gandhi ?

BCCI is a private club consortium registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act. :cheesy:

BCCI is GOVERNED by the rules of SAI, it DOES NOT WORK UNDER it. Do you uderstand the difference ?

We are government by the LAW, we do not work under the LAW. Same difference.

BCCI CAN and HAS organize matches without approval of GoI, especially since its NOT required. BCCI has their own Grounds too. India happens to be a FREE COUNTRY.

BCCI does not make money from the sale of Tickets  (its peanuts) ........ it makes money on the sale of TV rights. Most tickets are given for free to members only 15-20% of the tickets are ever sold.

"corruption" is when its Govt. In private business and clubs this "corruption" is called BUSINESS and is a daily activity. Laws are bent and stretched DAILY.

If it was their "right" the Supreme Court of India would have directed the govt. to do it.

They have not done so because they have no such "right".

Demand for ‘One Rank One Pension’ started in 1983 and it took time to be implemented .

SC asks Centre to fulfil one rank, one pension promise
  • Updated: Feb 18, 2015 23:54 IST
The Supreme Court has directed the Centre to implement its six-year-old verdict to follow the one rank, one pension (OROP) principle for retired armed forces personnel, reminding the BJP government that it had promised to do so in the run-up to last year’s Lok Sabha elections.

So what ? What does it prove ? That he was a pragmatic business man like Ambani or like a thousand others ? Like our Neta's who never go to jail ?

Many of our Politicians have gone to prison for money laundering

*Kalmadi was charged with corruption and sent to Tihar jail.
*Union Cabinet Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Andimuthu Raja is too has been lodged at the Tihar jail and is awaiting his trial.
*Former Jharkand Chief Minister Madhu Koda was arrested on charges of money laundering and is still in prison.

Case of Lalit Modi is different because he fled India in 2010 and thats why ita different case.

BCCI is a Society registered under the provisions of Tamil Nadu Registration of Societies Act 1975. Mr. N.Srinivisan - respondent No. 2 in Civil Appeal No.4236 of 2014 is the President of the Board besides being the Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of respondent No.3-India Cements Limited, a public Limited Company.

Government of India set up the Central Social Welfare Board, it joined for the first time the Government and Voluntary Social Welfare Board efforts in the service of the welfare state.

Similar is the situation in Tamil Nadu. Many dedicated service- minded persons created voluntary institutions and rendered invaluable service to the people of the State. The necessity for registration under the Societies Act of 1860 became a must as funds were made available by the State and Central Governments for various welfare schemes as well as to give legal recognition to an organisation.

**************

As per the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975, the societies should renew their membership every year. They should conduct elections, file returns and statement of accounts and minutes of annual general meetings regularly. In the absence of registration, bankers refuse to open accounts.

At least, 50,000 societies have not renewed their membership across the State. In the event of a failure to renew their membership within the stipulated time, the societies could get the delay condoned.

*******

BCCI have received grants from the Government but was not willing to come under RTI. Societies which are registered do comes under the Government as its for the welfare of the society.

"Several controversies about BCCI regarding allotment of franchisees, match fixing, betting etc., reported in sections of print and electronic media, have come to the notice of the Government. Various agencies of the government namely the Enforcement Directorate, Income Tax and Service Tax Department have conducted inquiries into the allegations of the irregularities involving the BCCI in the country,"
