5000 come out in support of Sarawak Independence Day

KUCHING: Over 5,000 people attended the ‘722 Sarawak Freedom and Independence Day Walk’ at Song Kheng Hai rugby field here today, calling for better treatment and equal rights to be accorded to the state by the federal government.

Among others, the rally also called for July 22 to be gazetted as a public holiday, recognition of Sarawak independence in the school history curriculum, reinstatement of English as the medium of instruction in schools, greater infrastructure development in rural areas and for the government to grant the state fair equity in oil and gas.

The event, to commemorate Sarawak independence day from British Colonial rule on July 22, 1963 was organised by Sarawak Dayak Iban Association (Sadia) and Sarawak for Sarawakians (S4S) movement. The highly-charged rally, albeit peaceful, was held in order and went without a hitch.

Why you got ban?

They can keep shouting Sarawak for Sarawakian but nothing is going to happen. They (the people and state gov) fail themselves. Of course i knew the federal gov took a lot money from the state resources.

Why they fail themselve?
1. Money politic, people easily get bought by money for the votes. Few bags of rice for a vote.
2. Allow state goverment to destroy and flood so many forest to build so many hydropower dam. Also allow the state government to enrich themselves (the officers).
3. Corruption in every level (from government, police, business down to the people).
4. Inefficiency and don't improving themselves. Easy to satisfy. Example, build a substandard tarmac road (the rest money got taken) to them and they satisfy because it is better than gravel road. If they have this type of thinking 50 years ago, i don't blame them. But they forgot now is 2015.
5. Selfish people and can't think of future. Seem don't really care about the environment.
