Aurangzeb, who was attached to Indian Army's 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) unit, was on his way home to celebrate Eid, when he was killed by terrorists in South Kashmir on June 14, 2018. He was abducted from the Pulwama district before being killed by being shot in head and neck. His bullet-ridden body was later found in Gusoo area of South Kashmir.Multiple reports cited that the braveheart martyr's friends are returning from Gulf countries to join the armed forces/ central armed police force (CAPF) to avenge Aurangzeb's death and fight the terrorists in the state of Jammu and Kashmir."We left the day he was killed, There are 50 boys, who have returned to the village with the sole purpose that they want to avenge the death of their brother Aurangzeb," Mohammad Kiramt, a resident of Salani village told NDTV.
On June 20, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited the family of Aurangzeb. She reportedly walked a kilometer to reach his house in Salani village. “I came to meet the martyr’s family. I have spent some time here. One message I can take back from here is that here’s a family, here’s a martyr, who stands out as an inspiration for us and that is the message that I am carrying from here,” she reportedly said after the meeting. Aurangzeb's father has vehemently praised the Indian Army and urged that more youths should join the Indian armed forces.
