In Pakistan, there’s a stereotype attached to Pakistan’s music fraternity that people who are in the ‘music business’ are not educated and that’s why they are in this field to make ‘easy money’ but guess what? That’s not true. There are people in our entertainment industry who are serving our country with their talent since years and they are in the business – after getting proper degrees/academic certifications to pursue their true calling – music!

Following are the 5 female musicians and their educational background will make you re-think about that old stigma attached to Pakistan’s music industry:

1. HADIQA KIANI

Also the recipient of Pakistan’s highly prestigious civilian award Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, not many people know that she holds Bachelors in Psychology degree from Kinnaird College for Women University.

Doing music and breaking the taboos before it was all ‘cool’ almost 25 years ago, Nazia received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Economics from Richmond University, London and later on, she went for an LLB (Law) degree from University of London!

Currently the ‘most talked female singer’ on social media, Momina is the perfect outcome when you mix beauty, music and intelligence altogether. The Afreen Afreen hit maker is a biomedical engineer by profession and has future plans to get her Masters in Industrial Engineering from USA. Now you don’t really see ‘engineer girls’ pursuing their passion for music like this, do you?

5. MEESHA SHAFI
