48 hours after launch, Isro goes silent on GSAT

Less than 48 hours after the Thursday launch of GSAT-6A, one of India’s biggest communication satellites with military applications, celebration gave way to suspense at the Indian Space Research Organisation(Isro) on Saturday.

A source said the second orbit-raising exercise around 10am went off well, with the liquid apogee motor (LAM) firing as planned, but a few minutes later there were some “hitches in communication”. Soon, top Isro scientists went into a huddle.

The customary official statement on the manoeuvre, like the one after the first such exercise at 9.22am on Thursday, did not happen. Neither was there word on the third orbit raising exercise. Scientists either remained incommunicado or claimed ignorance of the health of the satellite. Isro chairman K Sivan chaired a marathon meeting on Saturday.

Orbit-raising manoeuvres are done to change satellites’ closest and farthest points from earth, besides their inclination

Just like few Indians here after the failure. It’s no big deal to launch a satellite successfully. And failure is a step toward success. But I feel Indians are way too easily satisfied when there is a multi-page thread of Indians congratulating each other for a satellite launch.
Calm down Your space station has fallen down in pacific today.

Indians should solve 400 million illiterates first. And then talk about the satellite.
What? Space station? That's something that 400 million illiterates can't understand.
Nah won’t work. Great diversion attempt by you Pakistani. Floating a bus sized object into space half baked, risking human lives just to create a positive image and then to it have fall out of the sky with real danger of it hitting and harming people around the world- is as shameful as it gets when it comes to space. But I don’t expect you to understand- cause you’re a SUPARCO boy.
The illiteracy and poverty is a very sad situation which can be largely attributed to the colonization and complete marginalization that the massive indigenous population faced for centuries. Besides the 400 million figure is wrong.
And on the same lines- what’s even more shameful is 40+ million souls that perished in Mao’s leap forward.
Ok bye

Oh, but China has manned space technology. Why is China's space station dangerous?
btw. 40 million people died in the Mao era, which was a classic Western lie, and even its initiator recognized —— in the Mao era, the life expectancy and literacy rate of the Chinese people increased on a large scale.

I can provide third party links.:-)

Isro has budget of couple of billion USD they can easily deal with 5-10% failure rate. Anyway this doesnt look like a failure as long as critical functions are performed by the sattelite. 2nd orbit raising if its not at intended orbit more fuel will be used to place it thr shortening the age of operations but that doesnt matter when this sattelite will retire India GDP nominal will be around 10 trillion $. And Isro budger will be around pakistani military budget of today.
Pakistanis like u should be askin questionabout suparco not isro.

don't get too defensive, no need to $$$$$, PPP,GNP and GDP every news about Maha Baharat

** this is what happens when a poor finds a bag full of dollars

You talk as if the Indian space station is still in orbit. When was the last time India send up a space station? And then dock with the station. Didn't India plan a moon landing by 2020? Congrats in advance to India. Supra Powa.

Space station and man mission is not in our priority list.
