JESSORE: Four Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) members were held by BSF troops in Petrapole area when they went across the frontier to watch Indian Independence Day celebrations on Monday afternoon, competent sources said.
The BGB personnel taken in by BSF intelligence men were identified as Abu Musa, Badiar Rahman, Ehtesham and Nazrul.
A team of BGB led by Benapole Company Commander went to the Petrapole BSF camp for their release. The BSF handed over them at 10 pm
Border sources said a colourful function was arranged at Petrapole land-port marking the Indian Independence Day where thousands of people of the two neighboring countries enjoyed the jubilation.
The Indian border gate was open for common people. Along with the commoners BGB personnel also crossed the border to enjoy the function. The detectives of BSF camp arrested them, says a report from the area.
They were reportedly released later.
