ISLAMABAD, Dec 14 (APP): Thirty seven Sri Lankan students, out of a total of 340 students selected for scholarships under Pak-Sri Lanka Higher Education Cooperation Programme of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) have arrived in Pakistan to study at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The students have reached Pakistan in two separate groups, comprising 19 and 18 students respectively.

Besides, 200 other Sri Lankan students have applied for visas and will join their respective universities in Pakistan soon.

The scholarships are part of the Pakistan-Sri Lanka Higher Education Cooperation Programme.

The programme is aimed to further strengthen the relations between the two countries and bring people of both the nations closer.

The selected students will pursue their BS, MS or PhD studies in public sector universities of Pakistan. Scholarships are offered in all major disciplines including Medicine, Engineering, Business Studies, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences, etc.

HEC, in collaboration with Pakistan High Commission Colombo and University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka, held the tests in different cities of Sri Lanka. Over 700 students had appeared in written tests from across Sri Lanka.

All Sri Lankan students, having the minimum qualification required to take admission in undergraduate and postgraduate studies, are eligible for these scholarships. A high school diploma or equivalent is required for admission in BS programmes.

And, for MS programmes, students should have a four-year undergraduate degree or Bachelor’s and Master’s degree (16 years of education).

Similarly, for PhD studies, students should have a Master’s or MPhil degree (18 years of education).

Will the Indians crash the internet and jam other social media with this news as well. !!!

Come on don't exaggerate everything, how many foreigners have been killed in Pakistan.
The unfortunate murder of the Sri Lankan manager was more of a social incident.

The problem is very real, now this Anaconda knows his power it is about time when they start to swallow us one by one.

We need to kill that Anaconda ASAP.

All the very best, I would like to advice them not to tear any paper or sticker anywhere, and don't talk about religion with anyone.
Just keep to your studies and nothing else.

Should provide foreigners with a map showing which hillbilly towns to avoid.

Sialkot isn’t a hillbilly town, so a map wouldn’t have helped that manager that had been working there for ten years. In a way, foreigners should look up societal issues when they come to a new country, and be street smart about whom to avoid and what not to say, but that applies to every country in the world, and even then people can be attacked by sickos, no matter what precautions they take.

Sri Lanka has been the strongest supporter of Pakistan in South Asia.

Srilanka remembers our heroe Brigadier TM who planned and trained the Srilankan fight against Tamil Tigers and won it.
Srilanka won't have sour relationship with Pakistan.
