The Interior Ministry said that the armed terrorist groups and their backers, having received severe blows, carried out a series of bloody suicide bombings as employees were heading to their work and students to their schools and universities in Aleppo city.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry said that the first bombing occurred at 7:50 a.m. in Saadallah al-Jabri Square, where two suicide bombers detonated two car bombs using an estimated 1,000 kg of explosives.
''The second explosion happened at 8:17 a.m. outside the Governorate Building where a suicide bomber blew up a car bomb loaded with 500 kg of explosive material, adding that to two mortar shells that fell near the Municipal Palace,'' said the statement.
The Ministry said that the third explosion happened at 10:35 a.m. when the engineering units were trying to dismantle a 1,000 kg explosive device inside a car near al-Amir Hotel, Aleppo Chamber of Commerce and the Central Bank, but the terrorists detonated the device remotely.
The Ministry said that the initial toll has reached 34 martyrs and 122 injured, including civilians and military personnel, in addition to discovering three bodies for terrorists, adding that the terrorist bombings have caused great damage to public and private property, buildings, hotels and residences, indicating that 250 public and private cars were destroyed.
''The authorities at the Interior Ministry rushed to the area to collect evidence, taking samples of human remains and the explosive material which are to be sent to specialized laboratories to establish the identity of the perpetrators and ascertain the type of the explosive material,'' said the statement, adding that investigations are underway to find more details.
The statement added that the Ministry, together with the armed forces, will pursue the criminals and those who are backing them or harboring them, adding that they won't tolerate terrorists until the eradication of terrorism and those who are tampering with the Syrian security.
The statement concluded by calling upon citizens to play their role in cooperation with the competent authorities by reporting any suspicious case and giving information regarding the terrorists so as to preserve the safety and security of citizens and the homeland.
