Jammu: Three Pakistani military helicopters reportedly violated Indian airspace over the R.S. Pura sector in Jammu on Tuesday.

Official sources said that the helicopters flew very low over the Abdulliyan post between 1 p.m. and 1.30 p.m. before making a turn towards Sialkot.

Preliminary reports only said that three military aircraft had entered Indian airspace.

Of the 29 instances in which Indian airspace has been violated in last three years, Pakistani aircrafts have been involved 23 times, Union Defence Minister A.K. Antony said in Parliament recently.

Mr. Antony said that between 2007 and 2010, Indian airspace had been violated 29 times — 23 times by Pakistan, once by Bangladesh, thrice by China, and twice by the United States. — PTI

This might happened coz of technical/navigation error..unless until the crafts intrude more deep inside, no interceptors will scramble.

Moreover, Helis are low flying being used for transports of Army.

Both have enough drones for surveillance now..

Indian air space? What a joke :P LOC is not IB :D

We do, if you remain in other air space for little more time. Atlantique Incident is example. Because once radar says your violation, it would take some 10-15 minutes for fighter plane to reach. I think using missile would be little more than and it may cause tension.

Excuse me sir ... are you sure that Atlantique was shot down in Indian air space ... not at all ... I remember that day when it was shot down by some Mig 21 while flying over Pakistan air space ... Indian Helios came in to collect the debris in "run of kuch" but in a rush they could collect just a little piece of it, mean while Pakistani authorities arrive and they ran away ... and in News they show that small part at New Delhi airport in front of Indian Premier Mr. Vajpaee. Those were days of tension between India Pakistan and that was nothing but taking a Revenge of Indian Mig 21 and 27 shot down by Pakistan in Pakistani air space ... since then these air crafts are patrolling with cover ...

I think International Court knows better than you and me. It looks pretty childish. Planes fly at around 500 kmph and 15 km height. So even if it is shot down in Indian air space, its debris can fall beyong 25 km of border. Moreover, I guess there is doctrine that all planes should not fly close to border (around 10 km) so even assuming it was in pak air space why it violates the rule.

You also don't related incident. Your UAV came 150 km incident India earlier which was shoot down too. On the very next day of Atlantique you fired anti-aircraft missile on Indian copper carrying journalist. It was lucky that Indian pilot were able to misguide those missiles.

This is what report note on incident.

Foreign diplomats who visited the crash site noted that the plane "may have strayed into restricted space", and that Islamabad was unable to explain why it was flying so close to the border; they however added that India's reaction to the incident was not justified. Many countries, the G8, the permanent members of the UN Security Council, as well as the western media questioned the wisdom behind Pakistan's decision to fly military aircraft so close to the Indian border. They advised that Pakistan should be more cautious, especially after the Kargil episode.

Well Sir even if it is flying near the border area is that new to Indian or Pakistani forces ... and they shot down a reconnaissance air plane ... well their was a time when Indian aircraft's came in 15 KM Pakistani airspace but they were warned not shot down ... and even if it is intruded or slides towards other side, they tried to make it land on an Indian air field ... and even when they shot a missile it was in Pakistani air space and as what you mention above sir that debris might spread around 25 KM in this case if it is so near to border not even a piece dropped in Indian side of border and Indian forces in a rush comes into Pakistani territory to recover a piece ... and secondly you are mentioning another isolated incident of Drone which is an unmanned air craft .. Oh come on sir these are 2 different things in which 1 is included fatalities ... and later sir what you could expect from Pakistani side when a chopper comes for sight seen  ... and I give more respect to your words then those double standard International morons ... and you are quoting Wikipedia :-)rofl: take it on a lighter side ;)) ... any way sir we have our side of story and you have yours and neither of us wants to listen any thing about our Heroes lets salute them together ...

first of all, we barely have helos at our disposal. The ones we have, are engaged on our western border. why would we risk 3 of our priced choppers to intrude into enemy airspace and risk being shot down. This report is not correct. India on the other hand can easily afford an intrusion due to their vast resources, we cant.
