As three soldiers were injured on Sunday afternoon in Baramulla’s Uri Sector in Pakistan’s ceasefire violation, one civilian was killed allegedly in security forces firing in Pulwama in the evening.

The youth, identified by locals as Owais Ahmad Dar, was killed in alleged firing of security forces’ firing in Pulwama’s Kakapora area.

Preliminary reports suggest a CRPF patrol coming from volatile Shopian came under stone pelting at Kakapora.

Locals alleged the security forces fired from pellet shotguns to disperse protesters, injuring Dar seriously. “Dar was hit in right side of the chest. He was declared dead in a Srinagar hospital,” said sources.

The police are yet to confirm the killing and the details that lead to the firing.

In a separate incident, there were reports of firing in Pampore’s Samboora where security forces launched a combing operation on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, three soldiers were injured in Uri Sector of Baramulla when Pakistani troops targeted the posts of 20 Sikh regiment, along the Line of Control (LOC), at Baaz area around 4 p.m.

The injured jawans, identified as Sepoy Balvinder Singh, Sepoy Kulwinder Singh and Sepoy Gurujan Singh, were airlifted to the military hospital Badamibagh, Srinagar for treatment.

“Pakistan fire was responded equally,” said an army official.
