Heaven knows that I am not a fan of Mr.10%. PPP has always been based on personalities and basically run by one person; be it ZAB, BB or now Asif Zardari as their personal fief. However it must be said that current CJ and the restored justices are clearly pro Nawaz Sharif, this doesn’t augur well for Pakistan or for future of the judiciary.
Even if the honorable justices were angels sent to earth by the almighty, they are not ‘Elected’ and have no popular mandate. In no country does Judiciary order the Executive whom they should appoint as their Ministers. It is the right of the Chief Executive (Prime Minster in Pakistan) to appoint his ministers/advisors and other key staff as he sees fit, to run day to day business of the government. However here CJ has been dictating as to who should be NAB Chairman, he also annulled the promotions to grade 22 that PM had decreed.
Judiciary is not the Law Making body; it only interprets the Law after Parliament has created it. We have a case here that 18th amendment passed unanimously by both houses and signed by the President needs Okay by the Supreme Court!
In Pakistan we tend to take everything to extreme, IMO current Supreme Court with CJ Iftikhar is guilty of ‘Judicial activism’ of the worst kind. This has been discussed nicely by Dr Hassan Askari Rizvi already posted under " Energizing Pakistan" thread by Hon Rabzon.
