They were arrested form a house on Saturday early morning, police said.
“After getting a tip off about a group, consisting of five males, eight females and 10 children, are hiding in the house of one local resident Kurban Ail in Indiranagar, we cordoned the house and arrested all including the owner of the house and another Kashmiri citizen Abdul Rashin Dar,” said Sub-inspector Uttam Paul, one of the investigating officers.
During interrogation the arrested Rohingyas told police that they had entered Tripura through Sonamura from Comilla in Bangladesh and were supposed to leave for Kashmir to work there as household help.
A case has been registered against them for illegally entering in Indian territory without any valid document.
They were later produced before a court in Sonamura.
The court sent the male adults (seven person including the house owner and J&K citizen) to the jail custody while the female and children were sent to juvenile detention centre in Agartala.
Police are interrogating the house owner and Kashmiri citizen to find out whether they were involved with any human trafficking racket.
Six Rohingyas were arrested in Tripura in 2013 and another ten were arrested in 2010 while they were trying to travel to other parts of India through Tripura.
They had then told police that they entered India in search of jobs and complained of harassment by Myanmar authorities.
