23 miscreants killed in Dera Bugti
QUETTA (July 10 2006): The security forces have killed at least 23 miscreants and injured 15 others as operation against 'farari' continued in Balochistan, a government spokesman said on Sunday.
"Several tribesmen have surrendered to the authorities and more have contacted the government and offered co-operation," spokesman Raziq Bugti said.
He said that the security forces continued search operation in Sangseela area of Dera Bugti district against camps of anti-government tribesmen.
"They carry out attacks on security forces and other terrorist acts from these camps," he said.
He said that hundreds of supporters including some prominent commanders have parted ways with Nawab Akbar Bugti.
"More of his supporters are contacting the government," the spokesman said.
He said that seven camps of the anti-government tribesmen have been eliminated.
This is the second time in less than a week when the government has claimed killing of tribesmen.
Officials had claimed the killing of at least 25 people on July 5 in the same area.
A spokesman for the Baloch nationalist had denied the government claim and had said that the security forces suffered casualties in fighting.
