- By order of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, the Rajasthan Sanskrit Academy is organizing a 'Rashtra Raksha Yagna' at Shri Mateshwari Tanot Rai temple near the Indo-Pak border to "protect troops from the enemy," The Indian Express reported today.
Raje and Home Minister Rajnath Singh are expected to attend the yagna, which will be performed by 21 "patriotic Brahmins" on Thursday, according to the report.
Rajasthan Sanskrit Academy chairperson Jaya Dave told the newspaper that "our Sanatan Parampara". "Earlier too, when Kshatriyas fought wars, Brahmins performed such ceremonies to protect them. The message that the government wants to send out is that everyone should come together in support of our country and our forces. Our military capabilities should be visible to everyone," she said.
A statement from Raje's office said that she will be performing pooja at the Shri Mateshwari Tanot Rai to boost morale of the troops along the Indo-Pak border, the newspaper reported. "It will also protect the people living along the border, since the longest part of India's border with Pakistan (1,040 km) falls in Rajasthan," said the statement.
