Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa said security forces have killed 2,000 militants in North Waziristan so far, Radio Pakistanreported on Friday.
Bajwa said 200 soldiers had been killed during Operation Zarb-e-Azb, and 800 others had sustained injuries.
He reiterated the army’s resolve to ensure writ of the state in Bajaur and North Waziristan agencies at all costs by wiping out militants.
The DG ISPR said effective military operations are under way to purge the areas of terrorists, while addressing a think-tank of the Royal United Services Institute in the United Kingdom.
The army chief has clearly directed to carry out operations against terrorists without any discrimination, Bajwa said.
He said the United Nations has also acknowledged the achievements of the army against terrorists in Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
