May our Muslim brothers from Bangladesh always prosper and may Allah give them the strength to defend their homeland ameen.

These are true. There are many proofs.
Your government didn't care at that time. Now it would be reduced to history which will be disputed. Neither side would give in while confronted with facts.

We have to forget these. And BD should be considered as third country emerged from British India. It will hurt us always as Pak wont regret these atrocities ever. And BD was busy in many other things right after independence.

We were more than half of the population...we won an election...we were not given power....rather they sent in their army to kill right and left whom ever they wanted....so...how many Bengali statesmen and ministers and military officers and diplomats and high govt officials did we have??Since you claim not to be a traitor to your own history...you should know better...educate me....with actual data....if possible!
your logic is - "we don't like our countrymen and our ethnic group is not in government right now; so we hate ourselves so much that we want our enemy to "make us independent" and separate us from half of our own country".

Khwaja Nazimuddin became PM of United Pakistan before any Punjabi could. Fazl ul-Haq officially pronounced the Lahore Resolution, the basis for United Pakistan's and non-Muslim India's separation. the first President of United Pakistan was a Bengali. these are only the most notable on-the-surface names i am pointing out.

but what if there were zero Bengali MPs, PMs or Presidents of United Pakistan? weren't Punjabis our own countrymen? are you happy there are more Bengali Muslim MPs now, but running a second class Indian state called Bangladesh?

i amazed how well this Indian ploy has worked on people like you i.e. saying that our country "was not really our country" after invading it. when people went to vote Sheikh Mujib into power in 1970, their country was United Pakistan. and only India and far-leftist Bengalis did not want that.

i see you will say anything to make yourself feel better about getting invaded by India and becoming their slaves.

you are no different from an Indian imperialist. an Indian imperialist never wanted Bengali Muslims to prosper in their own country (just like you). they only wanted them to function according to India's terms. India's manufactured stories about West Pakistani atrocities hold no water to the actual experiences of Bengalis themselves. India was the victorious invader and Muslim Bengal got defeated very bad. it's bitter and it's inconvenient for you, but that is reality

"weren't Punjabis our own countrymen?"...yes they were...and if they also considered us(namely you) their own countrymen why on earth did they oppose our rightful rule?? People like you were their slaves before the war.....and now you still can't come to terms with the fact they do not and did not share the same love you share with them....You don't have a problem with Punjabi rule....but apparently Punjabis had a problem with you ruling.....imagine a Bangladesh ruled by Hindus....the entire administration is Hindu with a Muslim President.....or replace the Hindu with Chakmas....or Shantals....or whomever you want.....Would you be gullible enough to think that you actually rule this country?? If Sheikh Mujib had been given the power to rule United Pakistan(which he had a right to)....the entire war would have been avoided....most Pakistanis(educated ones) know that....unlike you!

I would live in a prosperous Bangladesh in peace with the baniyas rather than staying united with a group of people just for the sake of overhyped religious nationalism and get drones firing hellfire in my *** all day long!

The crow is white, Bengal is Pakistan

These internetwalas like khair ctg dont exist in reality so dont waste time on them. They will just give you a good ride around the circles.

The distance between Pakistan and Bangladesh 2200 KM....
No matter how much critical relation we have in the past....
No matter how many grievance we have on both sides....
But at the time of need you will find your Brotherly Nation standing at your side....
Happy Independence Day in Advance....:-)
Please take the Bihari Muslims who are stuck in Bangladesh.

Welcome back @Anubis :)

Now more than 90% Muslims in Bangladesh considered 2nd class citizen in their own country. Is that freedom and independence??? Rather than falling for chetona extremism, go do some soul searching, that is if you have any.

Fact of the matter is Bangladesh got independence from Pakistan but never got independence from india. That fight is long overdue.
it feels good to know that at least someone is daring enough to say the truth

stop treating islamists as second class citizens in bangladesh and stop hanging members of jamaat e islami by saying they commited war crimes have you forgotten the agreement on which mujeed was released from prison. that agreement states that there will be no case held in the future against any one who participated in the war

@Anubis
you already wrote in another comment that "they sent in their army to kill right and left whom ever they wanted". do you really think all those ordinary people are dead by now who witnessed the war firsthand and had interactions with West Pakistani armymen and would have called this statement crazy?

"and if they also considered us(namely you) their own countrymen why on earth did they oppose our rightful rule"

tell me how they opposed the "rule". but as a side note although WPakistanis cannot be shown to have opposed PAL's (Awami League's) election win, they had reason to oppose such mindset you are demonstrating through your words. PAL was supposed to be an elected party forming a government of United Pakistan. but when you put that in language like "us" ruling "them" like we were all kings ruling WPakistani subjects, WPakistanis should have had reasons to oppose. and when we look at the actual subversive activities carried out by extreme leftist elements in the months leading up to March 1971, West Pakistanis should have had reasons to feel concerned about the party that was going to be governing them.

the reasons behind the delay in handing power over to PAL are numerous. not only were East Pakistani masses hopeful about a civilian government, they had also not decided to settle for half of their country. it's in your imagination that East Pakistanis wanted to separate from West Pakistan, or West wanted to separate from East. and extremist elements of PAL including 'Nucleus' had questionable role in the events to say the least. but these are besides the point that India was our enemy and it waged war on us (East Pakistan) through various means:

1) logistical: provided armaments, finances and other tools to extreme leftist PAL elements to destabilize East Pakistan
2) physical: indian agents and trained elements had transgressed into the sovereign soil of East Pakistan long before March 1971 and indian military physically launched invasion of East Pakistan in December 1971
3) colonial: changed the entire constitution and national-provincial framework that we put in place in 1947.

and India won decisively. and it won so comprehensively that today the world encounters parts of the defeated and invaded population actually supports the actions of their enemy conqueror India.

if West Pakistan did not want to remain with East, they would not have spent the life of a single WPakistani-based soldier, or a single penny to root out Indian subversion in the land. or what if West Pakistan really did not want to be together with East (against the latter's wishes)? why was the only alternative of that was to become an Indian-controlled territory?
