Representatives from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and nine parties of Pakistan including the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz met in Beijing Tuesday for the first meeting of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Political Parties Joint Consultation Mechanism.

The meeting, focusing on the theme of "towards steady and sustainable development of the CPEC: mission and responsibility of political parties," also attracted representatives from think tanks, the business community, media and non-governmental organizations from the two countries.

Hailing the China-Pakistan All Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, Song Tao, minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, said the CPEC Political Parties Joint Consultation Mechanism is an innovation to intensify China-Pakistan party-to-party relations, as well as a new exchange platform to strengthen China-Pakistan cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi, vice chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party and foreign minister of Pakistan, as well as other representatives from Pakistan's political parties, spoke highly of the corridor in promoting the economic and social development of Pakistan and expressed a willingness to strengthen communication and coordination with the Chinese side.

The meeting also approved the Beijing Declaration to support the Belt and Road Initiative and further promote the building of the CPEC.

The first meeting of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Joint Consultation Mechanism was held in Beijing, whose purpose was to analyze the future trajectory of CPEC. Senator Mushahid Hussain, head of the PML-N delegation, said that there was a complete unanimity that CPEC is a guarantor for a better tomorrow, for Pakistan and its people. There was representation from various political parties, such as Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi (PTI) and Senator Sherry Rehman (PPP).

Beijing: Senator Mushahid Hussain, Chairman of the Pakistan-China Institute (PCI) and Chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, headed the Pakistan Muslim League (N) delegation that was part of the Pakistani delegation which participated in the first meeting of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Political Parties Joint Consultation Mechanism.

Hailing it as timely initiative, Senator Hussain said that there is a broad consensus on CPEC. “There is unanimity that CPEC is a guarantor for a better tomorrow, for Pakistan and its people.”

Heading the PPP delegation, Senator Sherry Rehman said, “This is a huge platform with immense potential for realizing the economic and sustainable development goals of Pakistan. It’s very useful to have everyone’s voices here to build clear consensus on priorities, outcomes and timelines for the realization of these important infrastructural and socioeconomic goals.”

The meeting was themed “towards steady and sustainable development of CPEC: mission and responsibility of political parties,” and had representation from various think-tanks, business leaders, journalists and non-governmental organizations of the two countries. The meeting also signed the “Beijing Declaration,” purpose of which was to support the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and further promote the growth and progress of CPEC.

A delegation of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), led by Senator Sherry Rehman, held a meeting with the Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), Guo Yezhou on the invitation of IDCPC. Senator Rehman appraised the IDCPC delegation of PPP’s support for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and said that upon President Zardari’s vision, the launch of Gwadar Port was crucial for the future success of CPEC. The Vice Minister appreciated Senator Rehman’s comments, and said that PPP had a crucial role in strengthening Pakistan-China relations.



PPP delegation meets leaders of IDCPC, assures support for CPEC


BEIJING: A delegation led by Pakistan People Party (PPP) deputy president, Senator Sherry Rehman, on Monday, held a meeting with International Department of Chinese Communist Party (CPC) Central Committee, Vice Minister, Guo Yezhou.

Yezhou welcomed the PPP delegation and remarked, “PPP is an important force in Pakistani politics since it was launched by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto; the party has made a great contribution to the development of China-Pakistan friendship at different historical stages.”

He expressed confidence in further strengthening of his party’s friendship with PPP in the new era.

Senator Sherry Rehman headed a six-member PPP delegation to China on the invitation of CPC. Syed Naveed Qamar, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Senator Rubina Khalid, Faisal Karim Kundi and Sindh Minister for the environment, Taimur Talpur are also included in the commission.

Thanking the vice minister for organising the multi-party constitution, Senator Sherry Rehman asserted, “We are very appreciative of CPC’s efforts and outreach to the people of Pakistan, and are in the frontline of creating and collaborating in the great China Pakistan Economic Corridor(CPEC) venture that is President Xi Jinping’s dream.

“President Zardari’s vision to give Gwadar port to China led to momentum on building a collaborative platform like CPEC,” she added.

She extended warm wishes from PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and recalled that he was the son of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, who had curated the relationship between the two parties as a pillar of policy.

The Senator maintained, “For PPP and Pakistan, a strong relationship with CPC and the Peoples Republic of China is the cornerstone of our policy.”

Rehman said that Pakistan recognised China as its iron brother through good and bad times and pointed towards the important lessons that the country could learn from all that China had done during the last three decades.

“It has, for instance, taken 700 million people out poverty and we would like to achieve similar goals,” she said.

The senator talked of her party’s attempts to build consensus on national goals and commitment to transform Pakistan’s growth and job trajectory. For which, she believed that they strongly stood behind the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

“Eight per cent of our GDP can grow if we are able to consolidate gains from this opportunity. We are looking forward to building consensus and infrastructure that will enable investors and bring some energy initiatives of the Chinese government to Pakistan,” Sherry added.

The PPP leader directed attention towards three important aspects in CPEC: job creation for locals with skill training, sharing knowledge on best practices to green technology and energy projects, and assistance in agriculture growth, energy, infrastructure, the digital economy and generating momentum on job-creation.

“We look forward to an endeavouring and stable relationship and seek to enhance Pakistan-China ties and the PPP-CPC bilateral relationship. We clearly understand the obvious benefits and massive opportunities that CPEC represents for the people of Pakistan,” she concluded.

Senator Sherry Rehman also extended an invitation to Guo Yezhou on behalf of the PPP Chairman and former president. Asif Ali Zardari, to visit Sindh and Pakistan.
 
Govt support and services and companies autonomous running, more jobs created, more Govt taxes, better and better infrastructure and ordinary life improvement.
 
CPEC authorities should meet only the Military and In power government officials


It is unnecessary to meet other political parties
