19th SAARC Conference in Islamabad 2016-News and Updates

Well.........after all the war bro ha ha created, it will take heart of a tiger to land in that country for a conference. Good move for Modi.

I wonder if Indians will allow Bangladesh to attend SARC meeting or would Hasina call it off too?
this will be real test of her loyalty to India

India media already started to claim that Bangladesh and Afghanistan are not participating. Well I can see the fate of second round of such isolation.

The terrorism in Sri Lanka (Tamils), interfering in Bangladesh and injecting puppet government, interfering & terrorism in Afghanistan, terrorism in Pakistan, in Myanmar that all speaks volume for members to boycott.

Don't be disheartened and ignore the Indian media !!

If India is acting snobbish THEN

Pakistan can always force Other SAARC Nations to attend the November Summit by using good offices of China. :azn:

If we have to be disheartened by Indian Media including Indians as well, there would have been uncountable deaths though such is the tool of enjoyment during many occasions that give us smile & laughs.

Why to force, let the most beneficiary eat the dust. We have no worries but what would be next is going to be more difficult for India to handle on diplomatic front. NaMO has chosen the wrong path of isolating Pakistan and since then, Russia exercises with Pakistan, Iranian Navy is in Karachi for Karachi, Myanmar in contact, Indonesia offered defence products, Turkey supports and there is further list although we are thankful to Modi in other way by giving us a chance to take the diplomatic front to further offensive and feel the necessity of it.

You sound like nobody is coming to attend, Don't underestimate you foreign office.

Khas kam jahan Pak. In the meeting Pakistan should propose to kick this regional bully out of the organization.

NEW DELHI: India on Tuesday said its delegation will not travel to Pakistan for the upcoming SAARCc summit. "In the prevailing circumstances, the government of India is unable to participate in the proposed SAARC summit in Islamabad," India's Ministry of External Affairs(MEA) said in a statement.

"We also understand that some other SAARC states have also conveyed their reservation about attending the summit in November 2016," said a statement issued by the spokesman for India's External Affairs Ministry on Twitter.

Islamabad has termed India's decision as "unfortunate".

Pakistan’s Foreign Office said last month that the summit will take place on November 9-10 and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif invited leaders of SAARC member states to grace the summit with their presence.

Narendra Modi was not likely to attend the moot due to situation in occupied Kashmir where his forces have killed over 100 Kashmiri protesters and injured many others.

I think its a logical decision, dont see what a summit would serve under the current circumstances.

To all those BD members saying "tail wags the dog": this is surely a great example of it? :P

NEW DELHI: Apart from India, Bangladesh and Bhutan have also pulled out of theSaarc Summit in Islamabad in November, saying the environment is not right for the successful holding of the meet.

The decision was conveyed by Bangladesh and Bhutan on Tuesday to the Saarc chair Nepal, sources said.

"The growing interference in the internal affairs of Bangladesh by one country has created an environment which is not conducive to the successful hosting of the 19th Saarc Summit in Islamabad in November 2016," the communication by Bangladesh said.

"Bangladesh, as the initiator of the Saarc process, remains steadfast in its commitment to regional cooperation, connectivity and contacts but believes that these can only go forward in a more congenial atmosphere. In view of the above, Bangladesh is unable to participate in the proposed Summit in Islamabad," it said.

Bhutan said while it is committed to the Saarc process and strengthening of regional cooperation, it is concerned over the "recent escalation of terrorism in the region, which has seriously compromised the environment for the successful holding of the 19th Saarc Summit in Islamabad in November 2016."

"Further, the Royal Government of Bhutan shares the concerns of some of the member countries of Saarc on the deterioration of regional peace and security due to terrorism and joins them in conveying our inability to participate in the Saarc Summit, under the current circumstances."

The decision by three countries of the eight-member grouping not to attend the summit would lead to its collapse.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday also decided not to attend the Saarc Summit in Islamabad in November.

The announcement by India came on a day foreign secretary S Jaishankar issued a second demarche to Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit over September 18 Uri attack and confronted him with proof of "cross-border origins" of the terror strike in which 18 jawans were killed.

The attack has triggered a strong response from India which has reviewed the 56-year-old Indus Water Treaty (IWT), and decide to reconsider the MFN status granted by it, unilaterally, to Pakistan.

Dude is it really necessary to insult Bangladeshis because of a few PDF Bangladesis, which may or may not even be bangladeshis?

The decision was already taken months before when Pakistan parliament passed a resolution against the War Crimes Tribunal. Uri attack has no influence.

Even though our government remains neutral on Kashmir issue, the general people of Bangladesh supports Kashmir's independence from India.
