1971 War – As I Saw it

To the best of my info DG ISI at that time used to be a 'Brigadier' .
Any names?

Secondly, my memory fails me, but maybe he was a section chief, nonetheless Major / Lt.Col.

I am hearing this first time. Can you elaborate? Post sources etc.

Not Sikh. But I have probably read that his father hailed from 'Pakistan region'.

During Ayub Khan time when I came back to Pakistan (Feb. 1967), DG ISI was Brigadier Riaz Hussein. Who was the DG ISI during 1971? I am not so sure. There was the famous decade of development exhibition in 1968 and ZA Bhutto campaign against Ayyub Khan followed by Martial Law of Yahya Khan. ISI was not a big deal until then.

DG ISI only came to limelight during the Afghan war.
