Seventeen civilians have been beheaded by Taleban insurgents in southern Afghanistan, government officials say.

The bodies of two women and 15 men were found by the side of a road in Musa Qala district.

Meanwhile, 10 Afghan army soldiers have been killed in a Taliban attack in the same province.

In eastern Afghanistan, two foreign soldiers - believed to be Americans - have been shot dead by a rogue Afghan soldier.

The bodies of the 17 civilians, which were discovered on Monday morning, were said to show signs of beatings. Some had gunshot wounds.

The district governor said the men had gathered to listen to music and watch the women dance when they were attacked.

The 10 Afghan army soldiers were killed in a massive attack by the Taliban on their checkpoint in southern Helmand on Monday morning. As many as 200 insurgents were involved in the assault, 11 of whom were killed.

Four soldiers were wounded and six others were missing following the attack in Washir district, a senior police official told AFP news agency.

The two foreign soldiers with the Nato-led force in Afghanistan were killed in Laghman province in what is termed a "green on blue" attack by an Afghan army soldier, who was subsequently killed by Nato troops.

Such attacks have now killed a total of 42 foreign troops this year.

The Taliban claim responsibility for many of the attacks, but Nato says other issues - including cultural differences and personal animosities - are behind many incidents.

Currently, approximately 130,000 ("blue") Nato troops are fighting insurgents in Afghanistan alongside 350,000 ("green") Afghans.

Nato forces are due to withdraw combat troops in Afghanistan by the end of 2014, with only training troops remaining.

RIP....... I hope the Afghan army, government and people get a grip on their country. Peace is due in that region for a long, long time.

Sher Malang, nice post buddy, it gives a somewhat detailed picture that hasn't been discussed too much. I think there should be thread on Afghanistan's fight against Taliban

P.S. If a similar thread already exists, kindly post the link.

. . .
All the Afghan Talib 'freedom fighter' fanboys on the forum listen to music daily. Isn't that amazing, they wish this curse upon Afghans, but will not give up their own decadent lifestyles.

Leave the fanboys, don't you think these Taliban don't listen to music? it's just their part of agenda to oppress people and rule them with AK-47!

Leave it buddy it doesn't worth to be shared here nor any of them likes to, the situation is satisfactory and we see a good sign of progress ahead.

The uprisings are currently taking place in 7 provinces; inshAllah it will increase day by day.

Dear readers:

We would like to notify everyone that the claims made in this news article are completely false. This is what Brig. Gen. Stephen Twitty, a spokesman for United States Forces-Afghanistan, had to say in regards to this news:

“Assertions made in an article today in The Express Tribune that the United States is willing to cede Afghan territory as part of a rapprochement with the Haqqani network and that the U.S. sees the Haqqani Network playing an '...important role in the future political dispensation of Afghanistan,' are categorically false. These comments, attributed to 'a senior American military official' are inconsistent with U.S. policy. Further, only the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has the authority to take political steps on behalf of the Afghan people.”

I shudder to think what will happen after the bulk of American troops leave Afghanistan. There could be a civil war out there which will add to the mess that Afghanistan is in. With myriad indigenous tribal power centers vying for space, peace will be the casualty.

Then there's Pakistan, Iran, China, India, the US of A, Saudi Arabia, Russia and the Central Asian Republics - all wanting a piece of the cake. Things ain't looking good. And if the Taliban think they are the future rulers of Afghanistan, then they're living in a world of make believe. They are part of the problem, not the solution.

Even though you hate Muslims and support their murderer(Modi) and try to lecture Pakistanis about secularism and treating minorities well etc etc. Not to forget criticizing Pakistanis for supporting Mumtaz Qadri on one hand and supporting idiots like godse on the other hand.

You khaki chaddi wearing hindus are as hypocrite as those "fanboys".

First and foremost, our deepest and heartfelt condolences go to the families and friends of those killed in this coldhearted act of terror.

This latest ferocious act of terror gives us another glimpse inside terrorists’ sick mentality. The cruelty that they have shown by beheading 17 innocent civilians leaves us all fuming. They continue to cross all lines just to achieve their evil objectives. Their long list of crimes covers every imaginable offense against humanity. Yet, they have the audacity to refer to our forces as the enemy. The sad part is that these gutless cowards choose to target innocent civilians instead of facing our forces. But we want to make it clear that we will not let these acts of terror deter us from completing our mission. We will continue to target those who pose a threat to the region. We encourage everyone to unite against these terrorists, and support our mission to bring peace and stability to the region.
