The 1950s in Pakistan can be best described as a soul-searching mission for the country. The politicians, intellectuals, artists and society, in general, were in their infancy and trying to build a nation from scratch with very little on hand. With a very vague idea as to what they hoped to achieve.

Here’s a look the decade that was marked with inexperience, fraught with confusion and at times despair, but equally boundless in hope and aspiration to see this country prosper.

The 1950s were a decade that brought tears of joy and sadness for Pakistan. A decade that seemed like this fledgling country was floundering. Pakistan preserved, and we will see that in the decades that follow, so stay close by for the next decades because the 60s are just around the corner.
