Peshawar police has arrested 2 suspects and impounded a car with sacks of explosives in Peshawar. On further extraction of info, the suspects gave the location of a store house and police recovered reportedly 15 tons of explosive material!

A big plus. This is a huge catch, had those 15 tons exploded, it would have been a mini nuke!

PESHAWAR: Police on Friday recovered as much as 15000 kilogram of explosives in a raid in Peshawar.
When the police raided the warehouse on Ring Road, Chamkani they caught two people who were moving 50 bags full of explosives in two pickup trucks.

Questioning the men revealed that many more such bags were present at a nearby warehouse. A successive raid yielded over 500 bags containing over 15,000 kilograms of explosives.

“There are 580 bags of explosives containing at least 25 kilogram of the substance and we have arrested two accused,” SHO Hameed Khan told The Express Tribune. He added that two guards posted at the warehouse managed to escape before the raid, however, police were searching for the men.

“These explosives had been stored in the warehouse and there is around 15000 kilogram of explosives in total.”

Khan claimed the accused were planning to transport the explosives to different localities.
The officer suggested that the explosives were meant for terrorism related activities; however they were still interrogating the two suspects.

Just for comparisons sake, one ton of RDX and other explosives was used in Marriott bombing...now multiply that with 15. This could have been something catastrophic.

15 Tons is 30,000 lbs of explosives ---- How do you get 30,000 lbs of explosives in to the country without anyone noticing????, How do you transport it from where ever it entered the country or from whee it was manufactured inside the country to such warehouses without anybody noticing?? How many such warehouses exist in and around all towns and cities??

The explosives were in sacks (average size)...and the suspects were caught while transporting the sacks in small batches.

So probably they didn't move it one load, they would have been working on it for months, 50 odd sacks at a time and they gradually went up to 15000 kg.

The most surprising thing IMO is that the sacks clearly had a marking on them 'Potassium Chlorate-explosive material'...'Made in China'. Were the terrorists really that naive that they transported explosives in clearly marked sacks?
