The girl was allegedly ordered to stand outside principal Sally Joseph's room on Tuesday and her mother was summoned. The principal allegedly berated the child for wearing a "tilak" on her forehead and hairpins to school. Ms Joseph allegedly refused to listen to the mother's explanation that the child had gone to a temple for her birthday and that is why a holy mark was smeared on her forehead.

"The headmistress did not listen to my wife and daughter and tried to issue a transfer certificate to my daughter," the father said in his letter to the rights body. He alleged that the principal said, "She must remember this on every birthday."

The state education department has been asked by the rights body for a report by April 9.

these people have crossed all limits, they have to be put at a place where they deserve..

A matter of utter shame
----------------------------------
St. Ann's school in Telangana : allegedly an 11 year old girl was made to stand outside principal's office in the sun for 2 hours and was even threatened with transfer certificate (expulsion from school). The reason was, the girl wore a tilak on her forehead (it was her birthday) and the school apparently hates Hindu religious symbols.
It can only be considered 'hate' if a little girl is going to be scarred for life just because she wore a tilak on her special day.
shockingly, the principal was of opinion that throwing her out of the school will make her remember her 'mistake' for all her life.
Even her parents were harassed and had to plead with the principal for letting her daughter stay in the school.

This isn't the first time a Christian school has been reported for bigotry. Even some companies with Christian owners are not behind.
There is a finance company which asks married Hindu women not to wear bindi or mangalsutra inside their premises.

Last year there was a case reported in St. Stephens Delhi where a staff alleged he was expelled because he refused to convert.

Why is it that some people cry special rights everywhere in India but are not prepared to provide the same within their own domain ?

Convent schools are strict but they are the best.
This is an isolated incident. Please dont give any weight to this news.
I'm proud to be educated from a convent school and I can vouch for these nuns who teach there. They are very devoted.

This is the result of hindus extreme hate towards its minorities. Sad poor child have to suffer due to extremist bjp party.

BJP propaganda. False acquisition... what ever hindus print should be taken as a darama.
Why hindu members of this forum don't post news of Christian genocide in bharat and ghar wapsi?

Is there a concern .. somewhere ?
Sure... concern is what ever happened to secular bhartis?

. . .
What exactly is the complaint here. It is St.Ann's school, if they forbid sporting a tilak in the school, that would be their right just like there was a case of a Muslim boy being ejected for sporting a beard (SC ruled against in that case after initially ruling for) and some colleges in Mangalore have forbidden Muslim girls from wearing the head scarf.

College bans Muslim headscarf

btw, it is pretty clear that this story is being played up by vested interests. Not surprising.

See the addition of standing in the sun - like the Principal's office is in the middle of the desert.....

The original story carried this - "An 11-year-old girl in Telangana was allegedly made to stand for two hours outside her school principal's room as punishment for wearing a "tilak" on her birthday."

Totally wrong my friend,Two wrongs don't make one right.
I was joking, I don't see the world through religious glasses.

The Principal was wrong though, she should be taken to task. I also know many Hindu friends who were educated in convents, religion was never a big deal and they generally impart high quality education.

this news is reported by NDTV, a pro-left, pro-congress and anti bjp news channel in India.. whether you believe it or not is not a matter here, father of the student has already complained to human rights organistation and govt has sought an enquiry in to this... why do u people talk abt gharwapsi while turning a blind eye towards evangelists and conversion work by missionaries ?? why is a pakistani being concerned abt indian christians anyway ?? last I checked a bomb blast in a church killing 50+ christians didn't happen in India, it was pakistani christians and hindus applying for asylum in other countries stating that they will be killed if they live in pakistan as non muslims..

Sure... concern is what ever happened to secular bhartis?

those secular bharatis have closed there eyes for a long time to atrocities against hindus in there own country..

. .
Since it's a Christian school lets not blow this incident out of proportion, but if some unknown miscreants break window glass on of a random church our secular fabric comes under threat and PM Modi must speak to reassure our minorities that they are safe to practice their religion.
