Over the last year or so, External Affairs MinisterSushma Swaraj and her team have used Twitter to truly extend the scope of their reach.

In addition to dealing with major international crises, she has also been sorting out the problems of many individuals online, without any fuss or fanfare.

Keep up the good work, ma’am.

11 Times Sushma Swaraj Proved That She's The Most Badass Foreign Minister On The Internet

I hate to be rude. It is not Sushma Swaraj job to make sure people get their passports. She needs to get diplomats and embassy staff to do their jobs in a professional manner.

the hallmark of good management is to delegate and to create a good work culture. I like to see more of that.

Its good to have a minister who is approachable to common people in NEED. Something of a rarity in India. We should really appreciate that. I am sure she is not personally handing over passports. In all cases she is directing her staff to do the job. I think thats good management.

I am sure someone responsible must be handling her twitter handler but even though if she is doing it by her self, it indicates she is taking the charge and listening to people's problem by herself. Surely she is not doing the ground work by her self but delegating it to her staff..
Kudos to Mrs. Sushma Swaraj.

On side note...All the BJP ministers provides a feeling of like people living next door unlike Congress elite ministers.

I hear you ...
we should not have to ping the minister unless it is of a unique pressing nature.
the embassy staff ought to respond to our complaints in a timely manner

It goes without saying, obviously, she wont sit behind her desk and reply to her tweets. She has taken charge and thats all it matters.

Great point about the embassy but y experience with them and other companies in India reveals many issues with customer service. India embassy and companies generally suck when it comes to customer service. They have miles to walk to catch up with other countries.

if Sushma Swaraj means business she would be making sure that the embassy staff are answering phones and addressing complaints/issues. She would be creating a culture to support it

otherwise it is a silly PR stunt

It's about work culture, there have been few cases where Police from Bangalore helped people who complained on twitter. I hope such kind of things pick up pace. People in authority have to be easily accessible to common people.

Nothing special here other than typical attitude of sub-continental politicians. They look for publicity stunts rather than making institutes strong and efficient. Anyway, as Indians are feeling that it's something special. So congrats & clap.

Maybe we should tweet her on what and how to improve Indian Embassies thoughtout the world which usually give first time visitors their first interaction and experience with dealing with Indian burrecracy. It's a great opportunity to show the change in winds since the new govt has taken over!

If you look out of your green baniyan you will understand even through political hegemoney she did help some people in need. Atleast now Indians know, if they are in need, they have a friendly foreign minister at office.
