Question: What is an Opinionator?

Request: Can you please reduce the number of post required to make PMs to a reasonable figure?

Right now I need 2000 posts. After 3 years I have just crossed 1000. What is one supposed to do? Post 100 one liners a day?

Hi.

A opinionator is a knowledgeable and respected member. They are like a competition to the Think Tanks hence equitably level of Think Tank.
It becomes too much to promote everyone to Think Tank!!

About the PM part, the figure is to avoid any spamming and other similar stuff that could be spread, like pornographic etc posts.
A suggest the criteria should be changed, with time period kept under observation too. 15 months and above 800 posts for example.

OpGrp are dedicated writers for the opinions page of Defence.pk - although you don't have to be one to get your article posted up there. For further details, Elmo will be the right person to be contacted on getting your opinions published.

This not being a social networking board, PMing is a privilege not a right.

I have never seen an Opinionator before (somehow the image of a terminator keeps coming up ....)

Is it not possible to click on each rank on the forum home page and see who all are honored with the respective titles?

Yes, I think time spent on the forum should count as well.

But the problem there is you may have joined a long time ago, but could have been Banned for a large duration of time since then.

That privilege was enjoyed by many of us before.

Why was it taken away?

That way everything is a privilege on a free forum where you do not pay to participate.

But the fact that we participate adds value and revenue to the forum as well.

So please do not take this as me being cocky.

Incorrect, it is not knowledgable or any special. It is just someone who express their cheap opinions in which many members opposed to them. Opinionator is just opinion, not close to Think Tank. I have seen their argument pretty much weak.

You should become opinionator and secret source!

Ok, so what are the qualitative requirements for any of the above? I mean, is it only for Pakistani members? I know this is a Pakistani Defence forum, but .......

Currently we don't have that type of member searching.

Its an editorial decision on who to include and who not to. But as I said anyone willing to contribute can come forward.

Abuse of various sorts.

Of course it is intentionally disabled keeping all things in mind.

the forum had a researcher category [guys who post information , not necessarily involved in cross discussions as they use that time in posting some interesting info] i became one and you can check my threads

researchers title was changed to opiniators to post articles... american , southafrican members were also added -- i also became one and had to write a thunder-asunder article ------- however time constraints are holding these people back from posting stuff -- another thing ive noticed is the opiniators were never infracted or involved in trolling , inciting hatred etc

any member can approach elmo with an article

Tempest II is a very good opinionator.

I think there should be a page where all such data regarding ALL current appointment holders,i.e. Administrators, Senior Moderators, Moderators, Think Tank, Elite Members, Professionals, Opinionators be shown like "hall of fame". similarly data of all baned members be shown on the same lines in "hall of shame"

i am sorry but that is neither here nor there . it has nothing to do with the topic at hand .

the question is that why were PM privileges taken from members who had them earlier. IMHO (and i could be wrong) this will only lead to trolling and one liners by members who will do their best to get to 2000 post .

All right - just to add my 2 cents.

An Opinionator is not necessarily a person who can write, rather the more appropriate word would be one who can edit, both for content and grammar.

Anyone can submit their opinion or research piece for review and publishing to the group. To be fair, we try to keep all reviews anonymous so the person who's editing it does not know who wrote it, and hence is not prejudiced for whatever reason.

Opinionator title is open to members of all nationalities, for instance both S-2 and Truthseeker are Americans.

Things are a bit slow because we all get busy with real life issues, but the emphasis is on quality rather than quantity.

Any more queries about the group, feel free to PM me.

TT and OpGrp are two separate groups with absolutely no overlap of function. I hope that clears things.
